I saw this movie soon after release on a plane from MIA to LAX. Due to flight difficulties the movie was free to all. The plane roared with laughter at some of the funniest parts like we were all doing the wave. It was a great audience to be in. I’ll never forget when Alan Rick man said his ‘pub’ line. Passengers were in hysterics. And I think the only Alien reference by Sigourney was when she alluded to the ducts in ‘why is it always ducts?’

I did see it in the cinema, but I'm a Trekkie so it does work more as a parody for me, and I would even say that's why I saw it. Despite its family friendly edits, I think it still holds up. There is a great doco on Prime (maybe Netflix) I think which explains its significance in the scifi genre even better than the Nemesis "homage" and JJ Abrams respect in your trivia read.
