What a great conclusion to this film series. You are totally right that Tarantino is a master at taking the time to let a scene or dialogue play out verse what other directors would do. I truly love it. And yes the final song before the final fight scene was well placed. It seemed to pump you up or prepare you for what was to come. This is the moment. As far knives and other sharp object on set? Does this happen often? How is it handled? Did you see the sword stick into the barrel when Budd kicked it away from Beatrix? Seems super dangerous.
