SO happy I got to this one!! Also introducing a very bare new space, so bare in fact, that the sound is a bit echoey. Hoping its not too distracting... Let me know

My hearing is not good enough to comment on the echo. But yes this came out right after I graduated. I thought it was really good when I watched it. Love the watch along, I haven’t seen this movie in a hot minute. But you are right about how 90’s music has a certain vibe. I am totally reminded of the 90’s Romeo and Juliet. Full of classic 90’s music. It is a different take on a classic story but I really liked it when it was released. Looking back on it now, it is amazing how many would be stars were in this movie.

Had archery in my small town WV middle school. He was one of a handful of teachers in the state certified/allowed to teach it in school, and I think it was the only school in the county that had an archery program. I enjoyed it, but was never any good at it though.

Love this movie. The never take no for an answer message didn't age well, but otherwise it's one of my favorite movies.

"The never take no for an answer message didn't age well" It's been part of this story since 1590 so however controversial it is it seems to be surviving the whims of the passage of time.

I've probably seen 10 Things 20+ times over the years and the sonnet at the end makes me cry like a baby every damn time. It's also the movie that made my wife fall in love with Heath Ledger. JGL is definitely my favorite 3 name actor. I think comparing him to Anthony Michael Hall is a bit of a disservice to his talent. I don't think AMH has ever been in anything that really challenged him as an actor. I guess sometime after Weird Science he developed a drinking problem, took a few years off, and his movie career never quite recovered. He's had a pretty successful career in television though. His most significant role being in the Dead Zone tv series. JGL on the other hand has been in quite a few great films, even at a young age. Mysterious Skin, Brick, and The Lookout alone put him on another level. And those aren't even his blockbuster films. He might be my favorite male actor. Back to 10 Things, the blooper reel near the end of the movie credits has a lot of great outtakes. Worth going back if you missed them.

fwiw I, too, subscribe to the theory that Shakespeare was a committee. I'd never seen this (and still haven't), but I got plenty of it in your youtube reaction. By the late 90s/early 00s, teen movies were an INDUSTRY inside the industry. More than in the 70s/80s, teen films were so omnipresent that it was like the teen beach/surf movie boom of the 1960s. There were so many of them it was impossible to keep up. Always had the impression this was one of the more highly regarded ones and I can see why now. Maybe I'll watch it properly one day. I can't believe we're almost finally caught up on youtube vs. what's been shared on patreon. Thanks for the generous amount of content you've been getting up the past couple weeks.

ahh I did miss the bloopers, my HBO was already prompting me to watch the next movie so I didn't stick around! I agree that AMH usually wasn't super stretched as an actor though he does weirdly find emotion in the Lisa goodbye scene in Weird Science, and some other flicks of his. there was a moment in time when my favorite three name actor would've been Chad Michael Murray --- that's on being female and growing up in the 2000s hahah

so fun to go back and see this one! Joseph Gordon Levitt has always been a favorite and to see him so young it's totally weird!

ah thanks! Yes 90s/2000s teen movies are my JAM. And let's be real ONE guy couldn't write all of what Shakespeare was able to write!! I could never be so productive (lol) As for being caught up, yes I feel much better when I'm more on schedule, just to give some insider info there are some watches I've done on here that may never get a YouTube release, I'm starting to breed a certain type of audience on YT and I'd really like to branch out and see if I could collect some other "fans" this isn't to say I'm not thankful for what I do have! Just that I am trying to be more mindful of my YouTube repertoire. AND getting back into my "real" life and balancing youtube has been a lot. I don't think I ever intended on being a full time youtuber, and I'm giving it that amount of time, so all in all its A LOT, and thank you for thanking me :)
