Chapter 2: Cheats

After realising I have Cheats, I listened to the Shaman attentively since I didn't want to miss anything important.

"Alright, one by one, each 21 of you will come here and test your levels. Normally, newborns are only Level-1, but there are exceptions, and exceptional Hilichurls are always favoured by our King."

The 'Our King' part caught my interest. I did play Genshin Impact until AR 56, but I didn't know about the fucking Hilichurl society, such as them having Kings. I have many things I need to find out.

"Now, don't waste my time!" The Shaman yelled, his voice like an overgrown child's. "Come now, one by one!"

He emphasised his last words, seeing three of the newborns almost running towards him at once. The other 17 newborns, except for me, were looking dazed. Guess that's what you get by forcing information into kids' brains, huh.

I simply followed the three kids. I don't plan to be a minion, no, if anything the title of that 'King' interests me, but for now, let's just follow around just to be safe.

The first one to put his hands on the liquid was a [Level 2] Hillichurl. In fact, none of the three Hilichurls in front of me were [Level 1]  one was in fact that one [Level 3] I noticed before.

From the looks of it, the higher levelled ones aren't dazed like the others and are fairly smarter too. Being a reincarnated soul, does that mean I would be higher level than the others? I can only hope.

As the first newborn placed his hand on the water, the liquid stirred softly. At this, the Shaman pointed his finger at the liquid.

"This is condensed Mana, something all life, except for humans, possesses, but the amount varies from person to person. As an Anemo Samachurl, I have higher mana than most others present here, even most Mitachurls too since when you get the option to evolve into a Mitachurl, all your mana molds and transforms your body to become bigger and stronger, thus permanently shrinking your mana cores." He nodded sagely. "This condensed mana you're seeing was made by me, if you ever reach my level, you'll also be able to do this easily."

The dazed newborns behind me started to mutter, impressed. Eh, this isn't really impressive though. When I think about Zhongli summoning a meteorite, this is just child's play. But there is a point behind his words. Every living creature other than humans has Mana, is that how it works? In the game, most monsters could use elements, but they lacked vision, so they surely used some sort of energy, so I guess that energy is called Mana. But humans, instead of Mana, use Vision to access magic, that much I know. Though I am not sure which is superior, this mana or the Vision humans possess...

Also, it’s kind of weird knowing I am not a human anymore.

Holding back a sigh, I stared at the moving condensed mana. Upon the Hilichurl dipping down his palms into the spread bowl, till his wrists, it flickered and strange language appeared there. I shouldn't be able to read it, but I could easily do it. Though I was not sure if this was one of my personal cheats, or could all the newborns read that.

"Oh my, a rare one at first." The shaman exclaimed, and even with his mask on, I could tell he was excited. He patted the Hilichurl's head. "You're a level 2, very gifted! From now on, you will be called Ketol."

A green light of anemo flashed in his palms as he took a pose as if blessing the monster. The others stared at it dazed. Huh, so he is the one naming us?

After that, he called the second Hilichurl to place his hands on the liquid, and it again showed Level-2. The Shaman's happiness was barely contained. After naming him in some weird words too, he then called the third one, the Level 3 guy.

"Whoa!" He gasped. "A-A level 3!!"

This was when the older hilichurls far from here, who were observing us, gasped too. Some even ran to us.

With a surprised crowd of monsters surrounding me, I totally wasn't scared. Fuck.

The Shaman placed a shaky hand on the confused newborn's head.

"I-I bless you, so that you may one day become strong enough to protect our tribe with all you got." Green flashed in his palms. "Uta-Eta-A!"

He said some words that he didn’t on the other two’s turn, and this time I couldn't understand what he meant. Maybe a magic language, I need to get my hands on it…

The green in his hand brightened up and the newborn stood there enchanted.

"You will be called Hugan!"

After that, unlike the previous two who were just standing on the side, another Shaman walked in and took the Level 3 newborn away. Eh, I want special treatment too.

"Now, come here, my boy."

The first Shaman invited me this time, his tone gentler than before. He is probably expecting a lot from me… uh, what's my level again?

My mind was busy, but my legs weren't. They walked to him and upon arriving, the Shaman snatched my hands and placed them on the condensed mana. I couldn't see his eyes because of the mask, but I could tell they must be shining right now as he stared at the texts slowly forming on the liquid mana.

After a couple of breaths, strange letters formed on top of the liquid, floating like paper boats. I stared at the letters, and immediately understood what it meant.

…Seeing the word, [Level 1], the Shaman sighed with a grunt. "Sigh."

He snapped his head back at me, I felt as if he was glaring at me, but he just shook his head.

"You are Bastad."

Bastard?

"You will be named Bastad."

...Bro, this ain't fair. What the fuck.

"Shoo!"

Before I could protest, the guy waved me off.

Walking back to the two newborns who were appresiezed before, I deadpanned.

...Well, he is but a fucking mob, I will kill him the moment I get strong.

—★—

After my name was decided, I had to stand by the other two [Level-2] until the others were done. The two newborns didn't care about the treatment I got, they shouldn't even know what is bad or good, so eh, I guess that's that.

After everyone was named, we were told to go out, hunt meals, and bring food for the tribe to eat. I wanted to say that's too early for 3-days-olds, but eh, nobody else complained, and this did seem like a custom too, so since it's been going on for centuries, and there are older Hilichurls alive right now, I think I can make it out alive.

He also said something ridiculous. "We Hilichurls only live 10 years, so we have to make better use of that short time. Use it to grow stronger, mate and reproduce, and keep leaving our descendants."

That's another thing to worry about. Now that I have gotten a 2nd chance, I don't want to die in 10-years.

That's for later though. Now, we were out of that Hilichurl village. I am still sceptical if I should even return there or not, but eh, at least they won't kill me randomly, but living in the wilderness won't guarantee that. Other than that, another problem was this thing beside me.

"Yhou thinkg we would be fhine?"

The Hilichurl mob beside me asked, its voice sounding like a child. It was just a [Level 1] Mob who wielded a shield and a sword, same as me, given by the Shaman, as it asked me with a tilted head. What should I refer to it as? He? Or she? Are there females in this race, even? Its voice is too weird to put it into either female or male category.

"I guess." I shrugged.

Unlike 'him', my voice was clear. I got a hang of it soon. Though speaking this strange language, known as Hilichurlian, wasn't really comfortable for my tongue.

So what exactly happening now, you ask? We were 21 newborns at first, but after Mr Level 3 was taken away as if royalty, we were left with 20. The Shaman said we were supposed to form 7-teams with 3 members each, but since we were now 20 people, one team would need to have 2 members. And unsurprisingly, he decided to put me in that small team. Bruh, why is he being salty?

“Otay!” The Hilichurl mob said, raising his clenched fist in the air.

"Just… follow me, I will make sure you are safe," I said with a sigh.

Hah, my survivability is at risk, so I probably won't be able to do that, but if we both somehow get to live, these words will at least make him feel like I have protected him all the way.

The Hilichurl- actually, what's his name?

"Hey, what's your name again?"

"It'sh Mene."

"Mean? Okay."

I nodded. Weird name, but works. Not like mine is any better.

Then I decided to try something I have wanted to from when I found out about my Cheat but didn't get the chance to.

Status!

(3) Language of All Things [Passive]

(5) Berserk [Active-Passive]

Overview: A reincarnated soul who was once a player of this world. Currently, the chances of survival before the Great War are 3.64%

—=—

Oh, I do have a system interface. Let's pretend I can't see the overview and check the skill, instead.

—=—

Player: You are a player, a game player. Your body is that of a Game Character. You won't die as long as you have HP. You can also get Experience Points from killing monsters, thus levelling up!

The Reincarnated One: You have already died once and, because of a twisted fate, were reincarnated. Your Mind and Soul is stronger than normal, you are immune to most mind spells, and can learn things faster, exceeding even the geniuses of this world.

Language of All Things: You can understand any language of Teyvat, unless they are magical.

Perception: You see the general information of things around you. This ability is purely based on the user's [Level], at the current stage you can only see weak people's level with your bare eyes.

Berserk: A racial trait. Hilichurls are easy to anger, and can lose their minds, which causes them to enter Berserk mode. Only Lawachurls can actively choose to enter this mode.

—When in this mode, all physical powers are boosted tremendously, at the cost of the user's mind. This skill is also purely based on the user's [Level].

—Note: Because of 'The Reincarnated One' skill, this skill cannot affect your mind, so you can access it as an active skill, even without being of the Lawachurl race.

—=—

That’s a lottery and a half! A basic level-up system with some 'Exclusive Skills' is not bad at all. The skills are the main part of this, they are too good. Though I doubt I would be able to get more skills by doing repetitive training like a certain Gamer System, but eh, this is not bad either. At the very least, other than the Level-Up ability, I can at least keep my growth in check.

Oh, another thing, I have a Minimap. I guess that counts as a trait of the ‘Player’. I can’t open the map big, and can only see it hovering over my vision on the right. Currently, I am in Dadaupa Gorge…

I guess this is enough to get my journey started in this world.

Here I come, Teyvat.
