Will you be reacting to the new suicide squad movie? It’s surprising really really good

This is just such a fantastic movie. Amazing storytelling, amazing acting, cinematography and music choices. The mixing of the fictional story up against historical events is brilliant and I remember when this movie came out, it was hyped for the fact that they had edited Forrest into historical film footage. I believe that was the first time that had been done in a movie at that time. Oh and it doesn't matter that English isn't your primary language, Magy (it's not mine either). You communicate very clearly and are super easy to understand. And that is the most important thing when speaking a second language, to make yourself understood 😊

Some fair movies were released that year in 1994. Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption, Dumb and Dumber, all classics.

The flashlights you saw was the Watergate scandal, which forced President Nixon to resign. When Forrest was on the Late Show with John Lennon they were quoting some words from his most famous song, 'Imagine'.

Towards the beginning when Forrest picks up that notebook the black girl dropped, that was indeed a real event. When the federal government was trying to end segregation (black people being forced to be separate from everything - schools, water fountains, hospitals, restaurants, everything. And they were often in bad conditions), Governor Wallace tried to stop black students from entering a white school. "Segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever", he said. So the President sent the National Guard to force Governor Wallace to let them in. One in a series of many instances like that. Also I live in America but even I didn't realize how many assassinations and assassination attempts there were on our presidents and politicians lol. So many shootings and killings.

Slayback

this film is very pretty and beloved but it is a santa clause version of events. the historical events displayed here are overly dramatic and false in a very positive light. this is not to take away from the craft and nostalgic love the film makers have for the era they are portraying. but it is certainly a rose colored portrayal of a boomer childhood. this is not to say that the principals of the film are "wrong" but the historical accuracy of such a filmic fantasy should not be taken as fact. yet as a film it holds some ethical and moral value that is missing from modern ethos. Gump's character asks us to be more than we and the world thinks we are... the film asks the viewer... "are you as dedicated to living your life as gump?" . and if not then why? what is your excuse for not giving all you are to yourself?

Andrew Clifton

So happy to see you did this one. One of the best movies ever made imo. I'm gonna watch it right now.

Yea and then add all the ones that were prior to the timeline of this movie like Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Andrew Jackson etc. It's nuts how far people will go over politics.

Andrew Clifton

Not sure I understand. We all know that Forrest is a fictional character along with his supporting cast but the historical event aspect of this movie is very true. Nathan Bedford Forrest was the first grand master of the KKK, every presidential assassination and attempt, the war in Vietnam, Watergate, the hippie movement, the Black Panthers, A Girl being kicked out of college for posing nude in her college sweater. I'm not sure what you mean by inaccurate.
