I like all the references to the comics in this episode. First with John Walker in the comics John Walker was a US Army veteran who went through the Power Broker process to enhance his strength in hopes of honoring his fallen brother. He joined the a wrestling federation for superhumans as Super-Patriot until he became convinced to put his skills to better use becoming a super hero. He was later chosen to take up the mantle of Captain when Steve Rogers retired. Exempt in this case when he died. When Rogers returned Walker re-established himself as U.S.Agent. I think we’re seeing him go from good to bad. I feel that he knows he can’t defeat the Flag Smashers which will lead him toward a bad path so he will then go to the Power Broker to get a version of the super soldier serum to try to solidify himself as Captain America. Second Lemar Hoskins better known as Battlestar. In the comics he is a former soldier in the U.S. military, Lemar and his friend John walker subjected themselves to the Power Broker process after leaving the service. While John Walker was in the wrestling federation as Super-Patriot; Lemar worked as a Bold Urban Commando, the "Buckies", who staged attacks on Super-Patriot during his rallies to build support for his brand. When Walker became Captain America, he asked that the BUCs continue to work with him. The pasts of the other two BUCs, however, meant they were not deemed suitable to work for the government. As a result, only Hoskins was selected to serve alongside the new Captain America as Bucky. However, Hoskins was later told that the term "Bucky"' was demeaning to African-Americans, and was convinced to change his name to Battlestar. Third the Power Broker know there is 2 different versions in the comics one is Curtiss Jackson aka the Power Broker was the head of the criminal organization of power brokers known as The Corporation’s West Coast division. He later founded his own company Power Broker, Inc. who tried to recreate the Super-Soldier serum giving paying customers the opportunity to increase their strength to superhuman levels. Second is a new Power Broker is the newest owner of Power Broker, Inc. Very little is known about him, other then he wears a battle suit, and can project bolts of energy from his hands. He was responsible for giving Hardball his powers. Power Broker Inc. later established the Hench App. I think in the series it will be a mixture of the 2 different versions. Fourth is Isaiah Bradley aka the Black Captain America. In the comics he was one of 300 African-American soldiers who were used as test subjects at Camp Cathcart as part of the Project Rebirth’s attempt to recreate the Super Soldier Serum. Bradley was the only survivor took on the mantle of Captain America traveling to Europe to fight in the war. This was seen as treasonous by the military, who sentenced him to life in prison as punishment, although he was released after 17 years. His legacy remained a secret to the world at large but became a legend and a hero to the black community. In the series we Isaiah as an old man talking about what it was like for him unfortunately the things Isaiah was subjected to were inspired by real life were the government experimented on black men by injecting them with syphilis in the Tuskegee Experiment which a horrible scar that the US has since apologized for but it’s still horrible thing that should’ve never happened. I also really understand how Sam feels about Isaiah even though I’m not Black I’m a Latino and minority in the US. So by Isaiah never getting the recognition that he deserved it really makes Sam wonder how impactful Isaiah could’ve been for the Black community and also other minority groups. Fifth is Isaiah grandson, Elijah Bradley. In the comics Elijah become Patriot and joined the Young Avengers. This is something that Marvel and Disney are in the works of creating and can’t wait to see the whole team. Either way good reaction Mags. Keep up the good work.
