JACKARY PATREON 2024 REVAMP PART 2 - ALL THE CHANGES (Patreon)

Jackary's Patreon is seeing some big changes this year! Here's a summary of everything that's changing.

These changes are motivated by a desire to reach 400+ Patrons by the end of the year. If I reach that number, I will be able to focus on Patreon FULL-TIME and massively increase the number of features and new artwork. If I do NOT reach that number, I will be retiring my Patreon. For more details, please read Part 1 if you haven't already!

The Logic Behind the New Changes

My biggest failing with Patreon is that I just haven't been able to produce a lot of new art because I've always had a commission queue. And for whatever reason, it takes me a lot longer to draw commission work than personal drawings. Because I have to consult with the clients, ensure that it's my best-quality rendering, and constantly consider whether the work will be satisfactory for the commissioner, it just takes me way longer to get through them. 

And when commissions are my only work, that means very few updates for my Patreon if I'm not able to get through them quickly.

I can't change how long it takes me to produce brand new artworks, but I wanted to create a new system where you guys were getting frequent updates even if it's taking me a long time to get through commissions. 

After thinking about it a lot, I think I've come up with a system that can reconcile these two ideas and play to my strengths while compensating for my weaknesses.

CHANGE #1 - WEEKLY POLL DRAWINGS EVERY MONDAY

Remember these little "practice" sketches I was doing semi-frequently earlier last year? The truth is, I can produce one of these within the better part of a workday if I just focus, so that's what I'm going to do.

Every Monday, I will specifically dedicate my workday to creating a sketch specifically for Patreon subscribers. The character will be sourced from a poll, which subscribers can vote on.

Some weeks, I may be able to produce one that's fairly rendered. On other weeks, I may do a bust drawing, or keep it at flats, like the Peach and Byleth. If I finish it quickly, I may draw multiples! But the point is, sketch drawings will now be a WEEKLY occurrence, and will always include a NSFW version.

CHANGE #2 - WIP WEDNESDAYS

I know you guys like to see WIPs. But I have a bad habit of just... not sharing them? It's not for lack of wanting -- I just get in my head about it. There's always some excuse in my head why now isn't the right time to share a given WIP, and it has resulted in entire months where I have basically zero updates even though I've progressed on a lot of art.

To fix that, we will now have WIP Wednesdays! Every Wednesday, I will post any and all [unshared] WIPs that are in progress, regardless of where they're currently at in my process. This doesn't necessarily mean that I'll only post WIPs on Wednesdays, but it will ensure that the ones I haven't posted yet see the light of day!

CHANGE #3 - DAILY POSTS FROM THE JACKARY ARCHIVES

So. I can't create a lot of NEW art frequently because I'm working on a lot of commissions which take longer and I'm often chipping away at multiple projects at once. But... that doesn't mean my old art just has to sit around collecting dust.

Enter the Jackary Archives, which is a new Patreon feature where I'll be posting something relating to one of my already existing artworks every single day!

Patreon subscribers will have access to the Jackary Archives, which will be added onto EVERY day. The Jackary Archives will contain variations of existing artworks that I don't post onto socials (AKA NSFW and alternate outfits), GIFs, Timelapses, and Wallpapers. 

THE JACKARY ARCHIVES POSTING SCHEDULE

• Monday: An on/off GIF [as in, clothes] of one of my artworks
• Tuesday: An alternate outfit variation of one of my artworks
• Wednesday: A wallpaper of one of my artworks (both desktop and mobile)
• Thursday:  A NSFW variation of one of my artworks
• Friday: A timelapse of one of my artworks
• Saturday: An alternate outfit variation of one of my artworks
• Sunday: A CLIP/PSD process file of one of my artworks

Currently, much of this content is exclusively available in my Gumroad bundles. But from now on, Patreon subscribers will be drip-fed this content, one addition a day. Many of you have likely seen these artworks already, but it's my way of bringing my art to your feeds once a day, one way or another.

CHANGE #4: WEEKLY AMAs AND DISCUSSION CHATS

On Tuesdays and Thursdays respectively, I will be hosting AMAs (Ask Me Anything) and discussion chats! I don't think I'm terribly important or interesting enough for you all to be lining up to ask me questions every week, BUT if there's something you do want to ask, I'll be sure to reply! Whether it's about my art, my process, or anything else relating to my life and interests.

Discussion chats will be a way for me to bond with you guys once a week! Patreon apparently has a chat feature now, and that's what I'll be using. Each week, I'll throw out a prompt and we can talk about it to our heart's content in the group chat! Prompts may be about topical stuff, such as popular games, or art related things!

CHANGE #5: JACKARY STICKER CLUB

There will be a new Patreon tier for people who want to receive stickers in the mail every month. Stickers will be based on completed artworks during the month, and sticker club subscribers will receive all other Patreon benefits.

CHANGE #6: CHANGES TO PRINT CLUB TIERS

There are only a handful of you in the Print Club Tiers right now, and I've let you down. Although you're free to request your prints in the usual way, I haven't been sending out messages prompting you to do so, and that's on me. (by the way, you'll be getting messages soon to receive all prints you're overdue on)

Print Club Patreon Tiers will now receive a predefined collection of prints, rather than being by request. The prints will be the same artworks chosen for Sticker Club subscribers.

I wish I could keep doing it by request! But with my workload it's just much easier if I keep it uniform. I have a system prepared that will allow me to efficiently produce and send out everyone's orders on the same day each month, which is something I struggled with before due to the unique communication required with each Patron to establish your order.

CHANGE #7: CHANGES TO $5 AND $7 TIERS

The $5 and $7 tiers will remain, but with a few changes. The $5 tier will be an extremely simple tier for people who just want to see my new artwork. The $7 tier will include everything else.

$5: Jackary Snackary - Just the Art

• Access to the finished versions of all NEW artwork every month
• Includes NSFW and all alt variations of new drawings
• Does NOT include WIPs

$7 - Jackary Daiquiri - Everything Else + The Jackary Archives

• Access to all NEW finished art each month
• Access to WIPs
• Access to voting in polls
• Access to chats/discussion posts
• Access to the Jackary Archives (DAILY posts)

The Daiquiri tier is EVERYTHING ELSE - basically the full Patreon experience. You will get access to ALL new artworks, just like the tier above -- including SFW, NSFW, and alternate outfits. You will also get access to WIPs, polls, and discussion posts/chats.

CHANGE #8(?): [YOUR IDEA HERE] FOR REFERRALS AND ANNIVERSARIES

Okay, this isn't a change, but it might become one if I find the right idea. I would really like to implement some kind of reward for referrals, since I'm going to try to climb to 400 Patrons. If you bring someone here I'd like to make it worthwhile for you somehow!

I would also like to reward long-time subscribers with some kind of bonus for sticking around for X amount of time, to incentivize people to stay instead of subbing and dropping the same month.

I don't currently have the bandwidth to offer drawings as the reward to either of these things, but if any of you think of any potential ideas, feel free to let me know, either here in the comments or in DMs!
