Jackary Archives Day 172 - Lightning Farron (Patreon)

Today's Archives post is Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII, wearing a reduced version of her outfit from Lightning Returns!

No NSFW version to share with you today, sorry everyone! But the purpose of the Jackary Archives is to consolidate all of my backlog into one place, day by day, and that includes the SFW versions of drawings! There are many artworks that I don't frequently repost, so unless you've been a long-time follower or you've done a lot of digging, you may not have ever seen them before.

Lightning has been posted to the Archives once before, way back in February wearing just underwear. This one gives you the full outfit, and next time you see her, she'll be wearing nothing at all!

ARTIST NOTES

I don't dislike this drawing, but I don't like it as much as I used to. On one hand, I think the rendering is super solid and I like the texture and weight that can be felt in her outfit. Skin rendering is solid, and I really like what I did with her hair. It's her face that feels a bit more off-brand for me. It's not anime, and it's not quite "disneyish" either like a lot of my other art. I feel it sorta falls into a semi-realism territory that I don't often go to with my art. I think it works well enough for this piece, but I'm not enamored by it.

And, as much as I did to make it look the best I could, I've just never been a huge fan of Lightning's outfit in Lightning Returns, which is what was requested by the commissioner. I was happy to draw it, because I'm a huge fan of Lightning and I had never been commissioned to draw her before that, but if I were to draw her again in any of her canon outfits, I'd definitely be choosing her base FFXIII outfit because it slays hard to this day.
