For today's Jackary Archives post, here's a 2022 drawing of Orochi from Fire Emblem Fates wearing a casual sweater and skirt! Seven different variations, in fact!

ARTIST NOTES

Now here's a drawing I haven't reposted in a while! And I don't have a good reason why -- I've always liked this drawing. This version, of course, isn't the original. The original features Orochi wearing Tharja's outfit, which was the original commission (this was a commission, as almost all my other drawings are). But the commissioner wanted an alternate outfit of a cute skirt and sweater, resulting in these!

I love Orochi. I LOVE her. She's one of the best characters in Fire Emblem Fates, and for some reason, the fandom just completely glossed over her. She's one of the most ignored characters in the 3DS+ era of Fire Emblem, which is simply mystifying to me, since she's cute, got big bazonkers, is a good unit, and has one of the most well-written and memorable personalities in the game. Can't win 'em all, I guess.

As for this specific version of this specific drawing, you've probably never seen it if you're not an avid follower. I've seldom ever reposted it. It's not for a lack of love, but I do think these versions are a little less cohesive than the original drawing with Tharja's outfit. The background and atmosphere was designed for the latter, and these versions were just additional variants.

Additionally, while this outfit is cute, I don't really see it as something that's very in-character for Orochi. It doesn't play super well with her hair or the background, so while it works as an additional variant for a commissioner who had a very specific idea, I'll generally be reposting the base Tharja outfit swap version if I'm posting this one to socials.

Other than that, I quite liked this drawing when I originally made it, and I still do! Longtime twitter followers will remember that it was my PFP for a long period. Enjoy!
