Jackary Archives Day 143 - Brigand Byleth (2018) (Patreon)

Today's Archives post is a throwback edition, featuring a Byleth from Fire Emblem: Three Houses reaching all the way back to 2018! No NSFW in this post, but it may be a peak at an older drawing you've never seen before if you haven't combed my backlog!

ARTIST NOTES

I can't remember for sure, but I'm fairly sure this was a commission. If not, it was definitely a community recommendation or something. Not sure. Either way, here's Byleth wearing the brigand class outfit!

Eagle-eyed Three Houses fans will notice that the color scheme here is not Byleth's, but rather Edelgard's, and that's because this drawing was made before the game released! I was working with scant details from the trailers we had at the time. One of them, if I recall correctly, showed Edelgard wearing this outfit, so that's the reference I used, unaware that the color palette would change for whichever character it was applied to.

This drawing is obviously quite a bit older, but looks surprisingly closer to my 2019-2020 work than my 2018 stuff. My "soft and smooth" style is kicking in here, and it's one of my pieces from that era where I actually drew a pretty decent face, instead of something kind of weird looking.

For that reason I think it holds up reasonably well! But I also don't think it will do much to catch one's attention unless they're a big Three Houses fan who loves to see fan art.
