My modeler just got back to me with another update on his work.  From the last blockout, he made Koloss a bit thicker around the hips and fixed his bellybutton.  Now, he's added new details, such as scales, wrinkles in his pants, stretch marks around Koloss' belly and has begun coloring the model in.

For anyone unfamiliar, the lack of detail in the color is because most character models have multiple texture maps.  Diffused (the bare basic flat colors), bump / normal (which is what adds the shine, shimmer and more fine details and definition to a model), and spec (which levels everything out with a softer contrast).

I cannot express enough how much I LOVE the work this man is doing.  More and more, Koloss is looking like the 2D art Calico made come to life in a 3D space, and I genuinely cannot wait to commission him for Hakari next.

For those curious why I would commission such freakin' EXPENSIVE models, I am currently planning to turn HISS into a video game.  Ideally, a 2D action / platformer in the same vein as Phantom 2040 or Dust: An Elysian Tail.  Right now, I'm only currently slated to commission Hakari, Koloss and Koloss' goons (a single base model with multiple "optional gear" if possible).  That's because these are the only models I'll need for a "vertical slice."  I plan on creating a full demo mission for players to jump into for free, giving a feel for the combat, platforming, and for the end of the mission boss fight against Koloss.  And if it gets enough traction, I'm gonna try and crowdsource to get funding.  Because as it stands, just getting models alone runs a minimum of $650 per model.  And with over 20 characters, not counting basic NPC's or environments...yeah, you do the math.  X'D

I'm ALSO planning on using the models for XPS purposes as well, so expect plenty of those too once Koloss is finished up.  ;)
