I find myself in that difficult position again. That one where I need to make a tough decision.

All weekend long I sat on this page, trying to figure out if I had the dialogue just right. And while I think what I've written for this moment in the story is passable, I'm still unhappy with it.

It's a page that's meant to plug a gap between two important story moments, while also being an important story moment itself. Almost like... every page, really... huh. It's almost like writing is actually kinda hard.

So, do I force myself to finish this page this week by Wednesday, even if it might fall short of my expectations or fail to accomplish what I was hoping it would accomplish? Or do I instead delay it by a week, hoping that the mythological PERFECT WORDS will come to me in the next 9 days and I'll blow everyone away with them next week?

When is good enough really good enough?

I'm certainly not the best person to judge my own writing. That's up for all of you to decide. So maybe it's better for me to just finish it, hope it's good enough, and move on. This page certainly isn't the most important page in this story, and much, much better moments are planned for the future, so I kinda want to just get to those sooner rather than later. I've already delayed too much this year.

Comic this week? Sure, why not. I'm not happy about it, but maybe it's really okay and I'm just being too hard on myself.

Drawing: Page 171

Playing: Rimworld. Because Baldur's Gate 3 gives me decision paralysis and No Man's Sky has WAY TOO MUCH to do and I have a more or less functioning 500+ mod list for Rimworld that makes it my perfect game.

Volume #1: Editing is done, corrections are made, we've survived editing pass #2, so we've now been sent over to a layout person! I'll admit, even though Fenris Publishing is a small company, they've got a great team of professionals! I'm kind of fascinated by this whole process, ngl. Hopefully you all find it interesting as well!

I honestly never wrote much in my life so i can't understand your position. But as someone who loves this comic as it is. My opinion is let the words come to you, don't accept quantity over quality. It is your comic afterall, I love every word and every art decision on it. :D I am just one person but, I hope your community feels the same <3

Well, thanks so much! That's very kind of you to say! <3 I am certainly also strongly on the side of choosing quality over quantity, but I have to consider there's a time component as well. If I can create ~40 pages a year, give or take, and I want this story to be 400, 500, 600, 800? pages long, we're looking at easily the next 10-15 years of my life, and the lives of all my readers as well. And every week I skip slows that pace dramatically. While I'm fine with spending my life on this comic for the foreseeable future, I'm also as excited to draw the next dozen chapters as readers might be to read them, and I don't necessarily want to wait until 2030 to finally get to some really (hopefully) cool story moments. So I try to keep in mind that not every page has to be the greatest page I've ever made, as long as the overall quality of the art and story continues to improve over time. :3
