*BEEEEP*

Uh oh. Since the school installed these metal detectors, you'd had an irrational fear of setting them off. It looked like that day had finally arrived.

The security lady stood up and put a hand on your shoulder to ensure you didn't keep walking. "Hold on. Need to wand you." There was exhaustion in her eyes; she clearly hated this job. "Arms out."

You complied. She pulled out a handheld metal detector and began waving it over your body. It whirred, but no beep.

"Huh, nothing." She stated in monotone.

"So, I'm free to go?" You ask shyly.

"Ahahaha. No." She laughed dryly. "Step here into the X-ray machine." She pointed to the stall in the corner and stepped over to the computer terminal. With little other choice, you did as she said.

The machine whirred to life. Then nothing.

"Uhhh..." You start to ask the security lady.

"Damn it." She casually cursed. "This stalled out again, gotta wait for it to develop the image. Don't you dare move, I'm gonna go fix it."

Too afraid to move, you stayed perfectly still. Moments passed. Through the glass of the X-ray booth, you could see the telltale skirts and crop tops of the cheer squad passing by. As they walked by the computer terminal, the herd of cheerleaders erupt in laughter. Your blood ran cold, the image must have finally developed on the monitor.

"Hah! They should just let him in, that itty-bitty little weapon certainly won't hurt anyone!"

"Yeah. I bet it fires real low-velocity projectiles too!"

"Should take a gun safety class, I'm sure he's had quite a few accidental discharges!"
