Buddy icons are here, and more! (Patreon)
Content
Hello buddies,
First and importantly: If you like this project and want it to keep going, we absolutely need your help. In the last month we've had almost no donations aside from Patreon/Boosty and unfortunately we've had quite a few patrons unsubscribe. We need to raise $753 ASAP, and even a dollar helps (not just due to hosting, but also company related taxes/fees), so please consider donating (if you aren't a patron already).
As you patrons know it comes with rewards and so forth, but for people who want to learn more, see our donation page: https://nina.chat/donate/
We've got a fairly big update (in changes, though the list is shorter than usual), but this is the first phase in a series of updates that will be coming over the next several days. If your reported issue is not addressed here, it may be addressed in the Friday/Saturday update.
Updates:
AIM/ICQ: Initial expressions support, currently only small and standard buddy icons are supported for upload, but soon you'll be able to upload sounds, themes, etc. Large buddy icons as seen in ICQ 7+ may have mixed results until a future update.
AIM/ICQ: Initial status support, ICQ moods, etc. Your experience with this may vary as testing continues, please report any issues.
AIM/ICQ: There will now be announcements within AIM and ICQ of server updates, so no more surprise restarts
WebAPI/WIM: More features and endpoints added, including buddy icon and status support
Fixes:
AIM: Added workaround to fix iChat 5 bug which kept sending empty messages to chat rooms
AIM: Fixed issue with AIM on iOS where a UIN on the buddy list would crash the client
ICQ: Various fixes to ICQ info, though more will be in next update
Developers, Developers, Developers:
Bots: If you have a screenname you are specifically using as a bot, please let us know. Adding the bot flag will help keep your bot happy after future updates.
Soon:
AOL: Mail has been postponed until a future release due to some extra work required
AIM: Finalizing features for AIM 4 to 5, patches for 6 - 7 (which do work)
AOL: More content from former channels will be restored
MSN: We promise, we're still working on Escargot 2.0 it's just a huge upgrade compared to the current server
