Don't mind me casually writing up a whole essay ranting on on your rant about VTubers that I'll definitely feel self-conscious about after clicking "Post." :) I was going to ask if the Yuzu you were talking about was the "Mothtuber" (I made that term up), but you confirmed it. She is indie/self-managed, yes. I've watched her streams from time to time. Doesn't exactly fit my personal cup of tea to where I actively go out of my way to watch her, but if a stream raids into hers, I might stick around if she's streaming a game I enjoy (Think the last time I really watched her was RE4make). I also am also not exactly the biggest fan of the more sexual nature of some Vtubers, so I tend to not watch them very much. As someone who mostly just treats them the same as any other streamer, just with a virtual avatar instead of a facecam, I'm not really looking for super parasocial anime girl experience. Though I do acknowledge that it's unavoidable by nature sometimes and so I don't mind it too much if it's not *overly* raunchy. The Niji situation is awful, but like you, I also didn't have very many that I watched from there, so it didn't hurt much as a (mostly) outsider. Certainly seems like the company is weaponizing its employees to defend them, so I wonder how many of them actually have negative feelings towards the one who left. And yeah, the divide between "Hololive" and "Holostars" is definitely still there. There are women, especially on the ID side, that tend to be more comfortable with it, and their fanbase doesn't seem to mind, but it's definitely much less common on the EN side of things. One of my favorite collab groups in 2022-23 were between two EN women (Calli and Kronii) and two EN men (Vesper and Dezmond), and I have all the respect in the world for Calli and Kronii for telling their "fans" who get butthurt over any crossover collabs to screw off and they'll play with whoever they want because they're friends. Unfortunately, the two Stars members graduated sometime last year, which put an end to that, and there's been a big gap in that aspect. Massively sucks too, as it was a massive breath of fresh air and a ton of fun times. As far as my personal favorites go, I am admittedly holo-pilled, so most of mine are from there. Pretty much one from each generation. Ceres Fauna is #1 for me, as most of her interests and personality tends to align with mine, it's very obvious she's from the same era of internet/YT culture that I am in regards to who she watched a lot of and general knowledge, and is rather subdued on the whole sexual stuff (Though it's definitely still there at times. Kind of comes with the territory, I suppose.) Close 2nd would be FuwaMoco, who're the only duo channel in Hololive and I just enjoy their cute and wholesome vibes a ton. Debuted a little over six months ago. (Though I found out a few months ago that I also briefly knew them from like a year earlier, just completely forgot about them. Funny how that works.) And I still have a big soft spot for Gura, who basically got me into the Vtuber scene as a whole by streaming Devil May Cry, which is one of my all-time favorite series, and loving it. I do enjoy pretty much all of EN though, but obviously don't have the time to watch everyone consistently, especially when streams overlap, so gotta make concessions. I do have other favorites on the indie scene as well. GEEGA (Though she joined VShojo recently, so I suppose not quite indie anymore) is a pretty great streamer , and I enjoy that she actively discourages the sexual/parasocial/"Is [insert family member] single" viewers from her stream, so her chat is also very chill as a result. And clauvio is one of my favorite streamers in general for similar reasons... when my sleep schedule is degen enough to actually watch her, since she usually streams early A.M. for me. They might be up your alley based on what you've mentioned disliking about VTubers as a whole. There's also this fairly new channel that blew up recently called... Dokibird? Been enjoying them quite a bit. Their voice does sound a bit familiar, but I can't quite place it... Might just be my imagination. Ah well. :)

Dokibird is the one who split away from Nijisanji and was getting the attack. I don't remember what her character was when she was a part of Nijisanji, but I remember her new name. Haven't seen who she is though lol. I follow YTbers based on content, so I'll have a peruse of the people you talked about to see if they've played games I'm interested in. Sucks that the divide between Hololive and Holostar is still a thing. I remember when Hololive JP had a collab with Holostar JP and the audience was MAD. Sorta the reason why they stayed split xP The thing that I didn't mention, but I've talked about it before iirc is the idol aspect that comes from VTubers. The way they call it a "debut" and "graduating" and overall how the chat reacts to them (unless the VTuber tells them not to). I haven't looked at any Hololive EN, though I know who Calli is because of her... uhh... rap(?) LOL. I know a few members of Nijisanji EN... but after the whole incident and finding that they were sorta a part of the bullying... eh :l

Are you writing a story about two tsunderes trying to confess to each other?
