On rewatch, the first big sign that it was Aqua beneath the mask was him calling Kana by her full name and without any honorifics. I had somewhat forgotten that has a very specific way of speaking to her. It was interesting to hear Aqua's thoughts on the Kana situation and how when Piyeon told him he thinks Kana would listen to Aqua's opinion even without the mask, he mentioned that he's pretty feeble. It goes back to him telling Kana that he even he'll get hurt if she keeps treating him poorly. Because he normally comes off as stoic and gives off "cool and collected" vibes, it's pretty easy (At least for the characters in-universe) to forget/notice that he does still feel emotions like everyone else. And it's clear by his words while pretending to be Piyeon that he rates her highly and really values his relationship with her, so having those harsh words come from her of all people especially sucks. If only Ruby knew that Sensei is already one of her biggest fans, hah. So much so that he's constantly trying to protect her whenever possible. Enjoy VidCon by the way. :)
