Update: (Patreon)

Morning update because I believe transparency is part of professionalism:  

In working on the backlog of bonus chapters I selected the next one and spent the last few days mulling and then refining concepts until I came upon an angle that actually works and will make a good chapter...and discovered it won't work right now.  The main plot of Book 3 needs to advance a bit before I can add that in.  Then I realized one of the other chapter topics nominated and voted in will work best toward the end of Book 3; having it there will solve a structural problem I was wrestling with, and not having it here will solve another.  As such, there's only one backlogged topic I can use for tonight's chapter, on which I haven't done any prep work, having focused my energies on a different one that now has to be delayed.  

What this means in practical terms is: 

 - Book 3 proper will start sooner than expected, after just three interludes instead of five.  

- Two of the voted interludes will stay backlogged for the moment, but this time for structural story reasons and not because I was too brainfried and blocked to write them.  

- The public chapter will go up on RR tonight as scheduled, since I published two for Patrons last update so I have it ready to deploy.  

- The Patron chapter may be delayed, depending on how fast I can produce a chapter I'm satisfied with using the only voted topic still available.  I refuse to half-ass it or crank out filler.  In the words of Hank Hill, "I'll do it quickly, but it won't be slapped together."  

Not pinging this update because I know a lot of you aren't affected and won't care, but it does impact operations here going forward and my sense of responsibility compels me to keep everyone in the loop.  So there it is.

Anyway, update as of about twelve hours later: Chapter is definitely going to be delayed as I've had a frustrating lack of progress on this goal.  I will put it up as soon as I get it done, it's just that my entire process was interrupted by this little hiccup.  Hopefully soon!
