Hurley is a sweetheart, but he was being way too naive here. If they said anything, it sounds like mass delusion that would only keep them under prolonged supervision. The lie isn't what's causing their trouble. It's funny that ghost Ana Lucia told Hurley not to get arrested... but he didn't listen. Maybe the wrong choice. Not saying to trust Ben... he's still capable of very bad things. But Ben's actually very self aware... even at his worst. I like that about him, even at his worst. (I'm Team Ben, no matter what. Just a wildly dynamic character, brilliantly played, that can take you from sympathy to horror and around again.)
