At this point I wasn't sure if there were any options left for Charlie. Because Desmond has intervened several times now, but as the jewelry shop lady once told Desmond... the universe has a way of course correcting. As many times as Desmond saves Charlie, the universe just seems to come for him again. So I think he's thinking... 'might as well go out on my own terms'. And I think Jack was right that no one can stay behind but the shooters. Any one else staying could be a distraction or injured, etc... I don't view this as a normal society, it's high stakes survival... so folks can't just do whatever they want. That could have a dangerous impact for the whole. I always think back to a S1 scene between Jack & Locke... Locke says the other survivors are scared and 'need someone to tell them what to do', Jack replies that he's not a leader, and Locke comes back with... 'Yet they all treat you like one.' The group can't have it both ways. They've looked to Jack to take charge since day one, and he's doing just that. Loved Sayid reminding Jack that a leader has to delegate though, and just be the leader. Love your thoughtful reactions / discussions! (Except when you're advocating for Juliet to get a beating. No. Lol.)
