tbh I understand that Esther does love her kids just a bad way of showing it, niklaus should have took her offer but then there would be no originals so for the sake of the show he declined. Esther is trying to right her wrongs in all the wrong ways I feel like she is misunderstood. No, i am not saying she is a perfect mom but I understand her in a way I guess... ALSO S2 storyline starts here and it is one of the best ones !!!!!!! and you guys were quit confused on the whole sibling thing so there is : Freya Finn Elijah Klaus Rebecca Kol Henrik Henrik died from a werewolf bite that we learned about in Vampire Diaries and Freya was taken away by Dahlia.

Finn wasn't just her therapist, he is her advisor regarding her wanting to become a therapist. I think even though we didn't get to see it, Esther knew the price before she had her children and Dahila just reminded her of the deal when she took Freya. Also regarding that Esther should have tried to take down Dahlia (her sister), Dahlia said that she was a lot more powerful than Esther.
