They need to complete Jeremy’s mark to get to the cure. That Shane had told them that he can lead them to it without the sword a few episodes back. But according to what we know until now they do need to complete Jeremy’s mark - his tattoo for the cure which is buried with Silas as per Shane. I like Kol he does make a good villain. About Damon not caring for Jeremy that’s false at this point I do feel he cares about him I actually felt this since season 1 ending that he has a spot spot for him and cares for him as his younger brother which is sweet. I also feel Damon did try to resist the compulsion and he was constantly asking Jeremy to shoot and kill him instead so I don’t see it necessary to compare this to how klaus had compelled Stefan to kill Elena and how he somehow resisted it this comparison between the brothers is not fair.

While I'll definitely agree that the writers are getting lazy and repeating the same strategies with their villains, like Klaus. MY opinion, but I feel like creativity is not what makes a villain a good villain. It's how effective their strategies are and Klaus always knows what to do to get things done... regardless if they're repetitive strategies or not. This is why he always wins 🙂

I don't remember which episode it was, but Shane said that the hunters mark also contains a spell that they need to get to the cure. That is why they all need Jeremy. For Stefan helping to save Jeremy, on the one hand they need him for the cure and on the other hand, even with all the things going on with the Elena-Stefan-Damon-triangle, Damon is still his brother and therefor he didn't just come for Jeremy (also not for Elena), but for Damon as well. In the talk between Elena and Stefan, i do see both sides and I see that it comes off a bit harsh or maybe childish when Stefan says she's never seen him not in love with her, but I always loved that line and how he said it...
