Lore Dump Breakdown: There seem to be up to 5 hunters in existence at any given time. Jeremy is a "potential" and therefore can SEE Blade/Connor's Hunter's mark/tattoo. Connor said that years ago he met someone with the mark and the guy who he saw it on was a Hunter (with a capital H) who told him he had an insatiable need to kill vampires. The Hunter he saw it on told him that if he could see it that means hes a POTENTIAL Hunter. Connor said he lost track of the Hunter and then one day the mark just appeared on Connor's hand. My interpretation of that is his Hunter friend died. That left an opening in "The Five" and the potiential's were 'activated' for lack of better term. They could see the mark on their own hand and it came with an urge to kill vampires. The first to kill a vampire became a Hunter (with a capital H) While Jeremy is a potential and has already killed vampires, I guess all "The FIve" slots were taken. Oh it also actually makes sense for Jeremy to be one of these potentials because the whole Gilbert family has always been vampire hunters. Connor killed a vampire and the tattoo spread. Then with each vampire he killed afterwards, it spread more. Connor felt it was leading to something but he doesn't know what that something is. Klaus and Rebecca told Stefan that her long dead boyfriend the Hunter told her that it led to a cure for Vampyrism/Immortality We have now been told that there is a map and a spell in the Hunter's mark and that the Sword is the 'decoder ring' for that map that leads to the cure which the Hunter's said was a weapon against vampires. Stefan and Klaus just good cop/ bad copped Rebecca into giving up the location of the sword. Even if they get the sword though they still don't have the full map so they need the Hunter's mark to be completed.

This season is so freaking good! The death of the council, the hunters of the five, and the cure....everything fits perfectly in the plot...favorite storyline from the show!!

It's a very good episode. Also Libby's breakdown is on point once again, at least it's how I understood all this as well. I think I wouldn't want to get Elena's hopes up either. Daggering siblings kinda is Klaus' thing, his signature move if you want so ;-)

Rebekah is my queen love her so much my heart just breaks watching her in pain 💔 though I understand Klaus’s reaction why it was the way he showed it they just got saved cz of him his werewolf side as the dagger didn’t work on him or else their family would be dead yes he’s right she trusts ppl blindly and can fall for someone easily but the way he treated her and treats her isn’t right I love klaus but I can’t tolerate anyone hurting my girl Rebekah 😒

Bonnie needs to understand Elena is a vampire now and in her case she can’t have from a blood bag or animal blood so what will she do she has to survive without killing ppl so she has to enjoy and revel in it as Damon said he isn’t wrong but I don’t blame Bonnie she loves her best friend and wants good for her so yeah it’s just a messed up situation Bon Bon needs to get over it 🙃

With the potential Hunter thing. When did Connor became a Hunter or when did this friend of him die ? Because when this friend died Jeremy should have also gotten the tatto and he didn't ? Or maybe it works with age too ?
