Love this episode it’s very hard to watch cz I fucking love Alaric so much. The last scene with him and Damon always gets me teary eyed. Damon is devastated Ric was his only friend u can say and he dies right next to him just like Rose did and they play the same music when she died it’s just so sad and heartbreaking. My Delaric heart broke 🥺😢😢

As Esther said the more times he died with that ring she was on the other side nurturing him and it got him closer and closer to his dark self which hated vampires. You cannot cheat death there always will be a consequence to it. But Alaric ☹️☹️Loved Elena’s and Stefan’s conversations and scenes in this episode they were so beautiful. Grace I could see u getting teared up a bit it’s a very emotional and difficult episode to watch I must say.

Btw Jeremy couldn’t contact Mary because he had no connection to use. He could connect with Rose via her connection with Damon. Sleeping with her wouldn’t have been enough I assume Jeremy would’ve needed them to have a deeper meaningful connection like Damon had with Rose.

Esther keeps saying she wants to kill Vampires because they’re super natural but we don’t see her trying to wipe out the werewolves!!!! Witches, Vampires & werewolves are all super natural creatures, If one goes they should all go. I just feel Like she’s tired of getting tormented by the witches & she wants revenge on Klaus.

Tyler is not sired anymore! Near the beginning of the episode he said he can PRETEND to be if Klaus is around so he wouldn't find out and kill him! So he pretended to be sired when Klaus showed up at the dance

Werewolves are not natural, they were cursed to be slaves to the moon by Shaman/ Witch... witches do dark magic when it suits them. Esther tapped in to her dark magic & created what she calls a plague to protect her own. If her thing was about eliminating Vampires she could have turned het children human and let them die naturally instead she wanted to turn them human then punish them by killing them. I’m sorry but in my eyes Esther has been a selfish monster from the beginning. Betrayed her husband, cursed her son to cover up her indiscretions then she turned them in to vampires.

I see what you mean and I agree they should also be something to get rid off, but Esther also said she wants to undo what she did and she didn't create the werewolves, so...

I love this episode, even though it's always hard to watch the goodbye scene with Alaric, where all the people come to see him and then also with Damon and him, I remember how bad I cried, when I watched it the first time. I've been a big fan of the Dalaric friendship and seeing them sitting there together just broke my heart and still does. The thing with all these fancy dresses I think it's pretty realistic that they have those, considering that there is some kind of event/dance going on every other episode. If you live in this town you better have a lot of fancy dresses ;-)

Looks like my original comment was deleted, even though there was a warning of spoilers i put on there, but... again, when i say natural... they're HUMANS with either a curse or born with magical powers, not undead creatures that should have died as humans when it was their time. But also keep in mind that she created vampires, she wasn't responsible for being born with magical powers or placing the curse of the werewolves. It's not just her, either, it's all the witches coming together to get rid of the vampires.

Yep. I still cry every single time. I just loved Alaric. LOVED.

For Claity: Alaric developing this split personality had zero to do with the Gilbert ring other than it is the mechanism that takes him to the other side and then brings him back to life. He's nuts because Ester was on the other side using magic to to focus his hate for vampires. That is why the ring didn't drive him (or Jeremy) crazy in Season 1 or 2. The witch didn't start using Alaric til AFTER Klaus broke the curse and she was charged with restoring the balance of nature.

Finally someone who realises that elena is terrible for stringing stefan and damon along...and bonnie deserves much better

Libby

@Gokul Yeah, Elena is so awful. A grief ridden 17 year old girl without parental guidance doesn't know what she wants in life... how terrible. How can ANYONE keep blaming her for not wanting to lose more people in her life? Frankly no she doesn't have to choose at all. Especially not on the brother's or viewer's time. She needs as long as she needs. It's not like they don't know what's going on. She’s not lying to them. If this was all done behind the brothers’ backs, I’d have a different outlook but they KNOW. WHY is it not THEIR fault for not having the self respect to walk away... She lost her parents and a short while after met a vampire who'd been stalking her for months learning everything he could about her so he could use it to his advantage and portray himself in a certain way to earn her affection. She later finds out that not only is he a vampire but a dismembering psycho killer and to be clear we're talking about Stefan here She finds out that through a genetic fluke she is a doppelgnger and her destiny is to be sacrificed and due to their proximity to Elena her friends are most likely going to be killed with her. In trying to protect her, her mother Isobel ends up being compelled and then KILLS herself in front of Elena. I'm sure watching your bio mom burn to death isn't traumatic at all. Then Jenna, her aunt who she loves, has her heart ripped out in front of Elena followed closely by her bio father dying to save her. The SECOND father who gave up HIS life for HERS. I'm sure she doesn't have any survivor's guilt that shades her views and impacts her decisions. THEN her psycho killer boyfriend abandons her the day after everyone she had left other than Jeremy dies. Her boyfriend's slightly less psycho killer is there for her through all of it in ways that her friend's can' t be due to their constant judgement of her. Now she had done the most normal thing on the planet and started to care or Damon... just like she did Stefan because he was there for her after a time of crisis and need. Now Stefan is back and wants to be with her again. After everything he did including nearly kill her in the most traumatic away possible for his own selfish revenge fantasy… Something that really the only person on Earth that would forgive him for, is Elena. Ya know in between her relatives dying, being used as a human blood bag, and continuously having to save either her own life or the people she cares about. I'D SAY SHE HAS ALOT TO THINK ABOUT.
