Victor's eye roll when John came into Elena's room... love it. I don't know why but I saw this the other day and I was thinking... it's creepy that like Katherine steals the clothes off Elena's back and Katherine had to give Elena her clothes so like are they just in a bathroom getting naked together? Why do I think of this random crap? "Is he like a bottle of blood?" I'm still laughing. Katherine as a human and as a vampire has a fierce self preservationist streak. She hasn't changed in 500 years let's not hold our breath waiting for her to. Sidenote: It's weird because so many people hate John but I just couldn't. Lol it has nothing to do with the character but the actor. One of my favorite shows ever is Alias and he played Sark in it and he was just amazing. So when he showed up on this show I definitely had a favorable bias.

I tried to stop myself but... I feel the need to explain/defend (but NOT excuse) John. Like I said in my previous comment, for some inexplicable reason I didn't hate him. I believe what John said in this episode is true. He believed Isobel wanted to help Elena. Every action John has taken whether stupid, reckless or misguided I believe his motivation has ALWAYS been to protect Elena. He really does love her. In season 1 JOHN wanted to kill the tomb vampires with the Gilbert device for the same reason Katherine/Isobel did. He didn't want word to get around about Katherine because that would have led Klaus back to Mystic Falls and more to the point: Elena. We know he’d never met Katherine prior to her stabbing him so he didn’t kill the tomb vampires for her. He did know that Isobel was getting her information from Katherine and her spies though. I think you guys missed it when Katherine said the reason John agreed to help Katherine get out of the tomb was so she’d stay and help protect Elena. At least that’s what she TOLD John she’d do, she was of course playing him and if Isobel bartered her deal then she was going to give Elena to Klaus. I admit John didn't really care if Stefan or Damon died too. (with the gilbert device or when he gave Damon the weapon to kill Elijah) Which I honestly think is fair, or at a minimum, understandable. He really believes they have brought a lot of darkness into her life, and well
 I think John, over the past 18 episodes or so, was in the same position Damon and Stefan were in in this episode. They/He thought working with Katherine/Isobel was a necessary evil to help Elena. He wanted to believe Isobel, so he did. Just like the boys listened to Katherine I think a teeny tiny part of them wanted to believe her. Originally, I didn’t really ‘get’ his crap with Alaric and Jenna but the pieces fell together for me after this episode. He did that out of jealousy. Isobel loved and married Alaric. John obviously loved Isobel enough to give her his resurrection ring, and she gave it to Alaric. So on this point, yeah John was just being a dick. Anyways
 the next few episodes are sooooo good, very excited to see your reactions!
