This week's image

Now that I've started unveiling PAT characters I can show you my first weekly update with a PAT image! This scene is actually a test shot, but I like it a lot; I was playing around with how the resort scene might look at sunset (which might be a good time to set that scene). I used the pose for Emi that she strikes in that silhouetted shot I used for the temporary PAT poster I put up recently. My only regret with this image is that all the reflection and refraction from the water means you can't see her hips and thighs because they're very sexy in this pose, but all in all I think it turned out for the best anyway.

When designing pictures I would ideally like every one of them to be good enough that they could work as a poster on your wall. Some of them won't be, because I have to make compromises to get what's needed by the story or the sex scenes. In this early design phase, however, I'm playing around with a lot of visual ideas and I'll probably craft scenes around interesting visuals to some extent; that's what I did in PAL too, although in the early stages of PAL my graphic design capabilities were much weaker.


Bug fixing

Naturally, an important task for me this week has been bug fixing the beta of PAL. I've actually had a big load of bugs, some quite difficult to fix, that I've been working through. It's also little things I'm patching up - inconsistencies, oversights, typos, etc. 

If you've played the beta you might have noticed that the sex scene replays in the harem victory suite are very buggy. These worked in my testing but in order to test them in a time-efficient way I had to skip a lot of the game through developer shortcuts, which sometimes doesn't pick up on key bugs (which is why I prefer not to do it that way, but the victory suite is right at the end of the game so I didn't want the test to take too long).

Anyway, this has proven to be a very difficult problem to solve and I haven't quite finished that yet, although I think I'm done with all the other reports for now. Therefore once I crack the last problem of the victory suite I'll do my own test and then release v0.15.2 to the $10 tier.


When will the full release of PAL come out?

The short answer, of course, is "when it's done, which will be soon"; to get into more detail I'd say that I hope for v0.15.2 to be the last beta test version, but I can't guarantee that. It will depend on how many bugs surface in the course of testing v0.15.2; if there are a lot of problems then I'll need to put out a v0.15.3 just to make sure my solutions didn't break other things. If it goes well, however, then I will be able to release the full game soon after, although I will have to do one more thorough test of my own, which will take a few days.

So I'd expect that sometime in this month or early February. I'd be surprised if it took much longer than that - there's not all that much left to fix, it's just taking a while to work out how to solve some of the problems. I would certainly like for the release to come before the end of the month as my day job will start to get busy again soon and I don't want to be torn in too many directions!
