The latest alpha is here, and as usual it contains some big changes!


Combat system and love scenes:


The biggest changes in this version are a) the combat system and b) the love scenes. Actually, the combat system is a way bigger change but I figure you're probably at least as interested in the love scenes. By the way, that doesn't mean sex scenes - they're not implemented yet. I mean the relationship build-up scenes that lead to sex scenes have been implemented, so this version's still a bit of a tease.


I really do need help, however, with the balancing of the combat system. My biggest concern right now is that I think the combat system may be a little bit too easy, since there are so many things you can do to your enemies. I'd love for you to share any thoughts or issues you have with battle in the game. Or even just impressions. Now, as usual you needn't feel any guilt if you opt not to participate in this - you're supporting me in a way that makes this whole thing possible and you absolutely don't owe me anything at all. I just bring this up for people who want to play the game and participate in the testing, I'd really appreciate feedback, which you can put in the comments here or send to me at: bbben.aif@gmail.com


Plot spoilers and sex:


Anyway, I've been assiduously avoiding certain plot twists and turns - I think I've avoided including spoilers in this version. Ultimately you will see those twists and turns, of course, but until you can get the full effect with the sex scenes in place and everything, I don't want to spoil it the impact by giving the game away too early.


After this version the future alphas are likely to contain more and more sex, so you can look forward to that. :) I want to make sure a sex scene is at least reasonably satisfying when it's introduced, however, so in this version there's only placeholders, plus you might get one or two surprises.

after my first play through i really enjoyed playing as for some combat system i would love to see a few extra details put in such as currant and max health, like kimiko 30hp / 40hp same with the mp, helps to decide if i need to heal or not and such, also would be nice to see damage/heal numbers like kimiko attacks spydar for 20 points of damage, that kind of thing, as for the combat system overall i enjoyed it tho after a couple turns it became way to easy and i found myself not using abilities just using attack and it was over in one or two turns, hope this helps out a bit :) and thx for the great game :D

- I'll implement that max HP and MP indicator right away - that's an easy one and a good idea. - Showing the damage inflicted with each attack may be trickier, as I'm not sure whether it will be possible, but I'll ask the ADRIFT forum whether there's a way to make that work. - I was concerned it might be too easy - I couldn't be sure, because the easiness in my testing could have just been down to me knowing the system really well. I'll put in some stuff maybe to level up the monsters a little more and make the game more challenging, just so that you've got more reason to try out the tactics and stuff. Thanks for the feedback, that was really helpful!

Enjoyed playing found combat system little easy but fun was using skills not just attack. Love scenes enjoyable. Keep up the good work.

Thanks very much! I've heard from three people now that combat might be too easy, plus I thought that myself. It's not necessarily a fundamental problem that the combat is a little easy since people are playing the game more for the sex, but even so I want people to be compelled to try and use the spells and targeted attacks - it's good to know you were using skills in there. I'm also glad you enjoyed the love scenes too, of course. :)
