tl;dr - Despite it being a bit of a slow week, I made progress on PAL and I should have the next release out soon.

This week's image

You might think you've seen this image before in the game, but look a little bit closer and you'll see there's a key detail that's different. ;) This is actually from a small new Fumi scene that I wrote and put in the game this week.

Slow week

It's been a slow week for me for two reasons: I've had a bit of writer's block and an unavoidable family issue that took up a lot of my time. It's very frustrating when I have those kind of issues to deal with, but it's going to happen sometimes. It can't be helped. I still did manage to get some work done.

It's also been discouraging that the Patreon campaign has been declining the last couple of months. I'm not quite sure why that is - there's always some natural attrition that isn't anything to worry about, but I haven't had much growth lately. I guess that means I'm just not finding enough new people; I think this is because I had to take off the public links to my games off of public posts. (The timeline matches up for that.) I think I'll have to try to work out some kind of compromise for that or go back to my old method, since the last releases I did were completely stepped on by the change in Patreon rules and I got no growth out of them.

PAL progress

The writer's block wasn't so bad that I couldn't get any work done - the Masami interactive sex scene is almost finished and I've polished off a couple of other fun scenes to include in the release. The pics for the Masami scene are almost done too; I'll probably call that release done and upload it soon, so I can reset a little and move on to the next thing I'm working on.

The Masami pics are a little bit of a mixed bag in my opinion; I had trouble making a couple of them look interesting, but at the same time I think a few of them are quite strong, so hopefully the net result will be satisfying. :) Also, I think you'll like the new bonus scenes too - one of them uses the picture above and the other is another Fumi scene (Hana, actually) that's a follow up to the other newish scene where Iku catches her skating through the lobby in a new outfit.

So that update should be available in a few days time for $10 patrons and I'll also put up an earlier build for $5 patrons around the same time.

I can't think of any questions today! Sorry the update is an hour late, by the way - I forgot to write it, with everything going on. :) If you've got anything to say, though, please do leave it in the comments!

Love the pic, that is probably my favorite maid honestly. Been there on the writer's block/family issues. Relatively recently, truth be told. You have my sympathies. I'm sure you'll get there though, it's always rough going for a little while but I've always found that if you push it forward, the work will pull you along with it.

Yeah, I'm trying to push through. It's not much fun, but I'm getting at least some stuff done and I'm not really far behind schedule, or anything.

Family issues are always bad, but anyone gets those from time to time. I hope you're doing OK. As for the declining Patreon support, I think it's because of the numerous new Patreon campaigns that have popped up the last 12 months. The indy scene for adult games is going through a massive boom. So it's just your competition I think. Things you can do about this: 1: Include a link to your Patreon in every zip 2: Do more cross promotion on Patreon 3: Offer the public versions of your games in game threads on the popular adult game forums (f95zone seems like a growing one) 4: Have new versions of your games once every month or 2 months, this keeps you in the publics mind. (You are already doing this)

I'm actually already doing #1 and #3 (although f95 has issues) but unfortunately there's been a bit of instability in forums lately. Cross promotion never seems to work for me, when I've tried it before. I don't really think it's the competition, either, because I think the community's small enough that promising new projects bring in new people. I don't think devs are canabalising each other's business too much at the moment, at least. But... I did notice these problems start after I took the public links down off my Patreon page. I think that's the problem. I was just trying to make sure I conform with Patreon rules but it proved to be a big problem in bringing in new people. I'm going to go back to how I was doing things before unless I get complaints, just because I think I have to. What the rules actually mean is confusing, but I think I'm sticking to them pretty well.
