tl;dr - This week, after releasing LMO v0.5.0 I worked on new and renewed PAL pictures.

This post was delayed a day to give the LMO release a little time. We're back on schedule from the next update.

This week's image

I hope you don't mind that this week I'm showing a picture comparison for the update (and probably you've all seen this picture a few times as it comes pretty early in PAL). I'll give you new stuff next week, I promise, but this is the best venue to talk about the comparisons and I've got this new multiple image posting power in Patreon. Plus I thought you might be interested.

Anyway, the picture above is the newly rendered version. I changed the lights and textures, as you can probably see. Like I mentioned in previous posts that helps to bring out the skin texture; also, it often helps to create warmer colours. The reason I posted this, however, was to show how rendering for longer fights graininess. Here's the original:

I don't know how well this shows up in the post (you may have to click on the image) but the original is quite grainy. That's a product of rendering in low lighting. Shadows and darkened rooms are important to the atmosphere of PAL - particularly this scene - but when Daz is rendering dark shots it has more trouble getting the image sharp and smooth. Instead you get a lot of graininess and even some small pixel errors.

This is solved, basically, by doing the lighting differently and making the whole thing render for way longer. Like an extra 45-60 minutes on top of the existing rendering time. (Sigh.) There are more egregious examples of grain in the game at the moment - I'm planning on getting to those, of course, and in some cases I already have.

PAL AotNM pictures

This week I made some of my favourite pictures that I've ever made. They're for the Iku/Kimiko threesome and I could show them, but I want to hold off on some of the best stuff, at least for a while. I've made other stuff too; both re-renders and new stuff. Actually, I've re-rendered even the earlier pictures I showed you for the Iku/Kim threesome because I didn't like the graininess in those and the low-res wallpaper in the background. That's fixed now.

LMO release + writing

As you'd know, I released LMO v0.5.0 this week. I'm quite proud of this update as I think the game is getting much better with each step forward, but there is still plenty more to come. Obviously, getting this finished consumed the early part of the week.

EFon's chipped in a bunch of new writing this week, so once I've edited it all we'll have a bunch more endings written, at least. I still need to illustrate them, although I've got some pics done for a couple of the unfinished endings. Plus they're mostly programmed into the game, so you can at least find the paths to those endings already (and get a placeholder ending instead).

Do you see the difference between the pictures? And have you had the opportunity to play LMO v0.5.0 yet? I could use some transcripts (or feedback) for this version! Do you have any other comments or questions? Let me know down below!
