This IS actually a fair point. I wouldn't think this is some sort of super negative reaction to Alchemy--Prof's giving constructive criticism! I would enjoy Pioneer in Arena--it'd incentivize me to get back into the online game, and use my War of the Spark decks!

Man I would love Pioneer on Arena!

So happy I haven’t been sucked into Arena!!!!

Haha no

Don't buy into the corpo bullshit Prof, WOTC does it to themselves by doing this kind of shit.

Why would I be enticed to play a format with nerfed cards? Also, consider that they signed up to continually make changes to cards for upcoming sets (aka waste money). No thanks, WOTC. Try again.

I purely play Arena as a time killer. I will not be playing any new BS mode where I have to relearn cards in my decks. No thank you.

I am actually much more concerned about the long term effects of offering Alchemy on Arena because it dilutes the player experience IRL. The client has to offer both an “original” version of the card to keep in line with the paper versions already circulated and also these updated “nerfed” cards. Players who are only introduced to a card on Arena will remember a card functioning one way, only to later find themselves playing with a version of the card that functions differently at the card table when playing in paper. But even if the client does this, for younger players this will be confusing and could damage a player’s experience. There is also a slippery slope if WOTC prints a Secret Lair or a specialty set with paper versions of these “digital only updated cards” and we would horrifically have a reality of multiple printed versions of cards, which is something the game has avoided for decades. As the Prof says, a card once created should do the same thing throughout its existence, not just for collection but also for player experience and game viability. I think there are a lot of costs to this decision of creating Arena’s Alchemy that were not considered before the concept’s release. :(
