Nice. Somebody doing their Christopher Eccleston impersonation. :)

TSR was a product that would be sold out at *any* realistic print run. So why we needed a deeply limited print run is beyond most comprehension. Definitely no way WotC didn’t see the demand for the first ever remaster of such a popular period.

Agree with profs stance on tsr scarcity...how does underprinting help wotc directly at all? Isn’t it the lgs doing the price gouging? Who decides tsr should now be sold at $300 a box?

Great video as always. May have missed the boat on the pre-order price but hopefully I can find one down the road to draft with the family.

Anonymous

I actually was able to get a few draft packs from preordering early, and I intended to actually play them. But the price shooting up kinda changed them into collectibles instead =)

Anonymous

Completely agree...they need to print more of these. They are limiting us to 6 packs at my LGS...nooooooo wayyyyyy I’m pulling a shifted foil outta those :/

Anonymous

Nice pools, I did not get a foil in mine box but it fun and I just enjoy opening packs.

I wish I could go out and actually draft this right now. With Covid and a newborn that is most likely going to be a while. It's too bad that all the specialty sets moving forward will be limited print runs from what I understand. It shouldn't surprise anyone that Hasbro cares about profit margin more than the fan base but it's tragic that the game is starting to have a financial requirement to play.

Can not wait to get drafting at my lgs just a few weeks here in the uk!

My prior to watching prediction: The boxes will run out before the value does.

The MTG Finance crowd is doing it buying up boxes at $<200 prior to release and now selling those same boxes for $>300. The Taco Man said it best. WotC has a number of pallets of this stuff in storage and they are going to trickle it out in dribs and drabs at $250/bx on Amazon vs. selling to LGS for $120/bx.

Anonymous

WotC likely has a significant portion of the print run held back. By releasing a smaller initial amount they've caused the market to hyper react and TSR is $300+ bx vs. $180. Now WotC can trickle their supply onto the market through Amazon at $250/bx and people will gobble them up thinking they got a great deal. Then in 12 months when it's "X Block Remastered" people are going to go BONKERS and buy-Buy-BUY! via pre-orders and WotC and print a massive print run and have it all gobbled up by the market. Then at release prices will nosedive because there is way more supply than demand. If only WotC put as much effort into making new sets/cards as they do figuring out how to manipulate the market for maximum profit.

I agree with you that these cards are meant to be played with. I bought a couple boxes to put away, but I also bought one to open, and I cracked a few packs while enjoying your video. Thanks, Ninth Professor!

We must consider that Hasbro Marketing and distribution strategy is probably to keep a consistant amount of boxes pallets in order to ditribute them in a second moment not following the usual channel like locals stores. If It will be happening, it will be probably drop drammatically the prices of the singles card! In this case for me is important not to buy it in order to send a clear message to Hasbro about distribution preferences of all loyal players. Magic is first of all a game, and that’s the reason why it survive throug the year!

I struggled to get hold of ten packs! No big pull but the old frames are great!

i preordered at my lgs and they didn't even print enough to send any their way so i didn't get one at all and now they're like 350

I was really psyched to see/get the new Time Spiral boxed set. I went back and pulled out my playset binder and actually spent a few hours going through and having those great memories of playing this set. I totally missed the boat on this set coming out, but I am one of those non-complainers that is taking the long view. My hope is that maybe this will cause WOTC to put a little more thought into small print runs. The awesome, secondary effect that this has had, is that my little play-group of 5 all put together Time Spiral block cards last week! EVERYONE had some kind of throw-back card. And it was completely without any coordination...we just all wanted to recapture that fun (and oh yeah, we're all 'older' players) that was Time Spiral. Thank you Professor for these fantastic videos!

I was really surprised at the prices for some of these cards! I have not given TimeSpiral a second look until now!
