Elves vs Inventors is the final Duel Deck. Ever. The series has been discontinued and this is the final installment. As such, it casts a pall of added scrutiny on Elves vs Inventors. Did Wizards truly go all out on this farewell duel deck or were they already out of gas to begin with? Is this perfect for the duel deck collector, a fitting final chapter to the duel deck saga, or perhaps it’s just evidence of why the product line has been discontinued. I’ll examine in detail the gameplay balance and enjoyment, cards for collectors, interest for new and established players, and ultimately whether or not this product is worth it from those perspectives. Let’s take a look!

Your absolutely right that we deserve better cards. Why shouldn't I be able to have the Gods in a duel deck ? If WOTC will release the new event decks with Chandra and other great standard cards then why can I not have better cards available? I spend a lot of money with the company. I just don't have pro tour money.

IDK that foil Goblin Welder really gets me hard. I also think that in this case you're being unnecessarily complainy. Aside from the name and theme, which would have been great as "Builders vs Scrappers" or something and make it green elf artificers vs red goblin artificers. I don't see much wrong here. The value itself is worth the money, we get two new art versions of played cards in foil, and the cost is only 20 bucks, which more than makes up for a lot of the other value being bulk. Regarding the balance thing, I disagree for the most part. Having both Myr Battlesphere and Scuttling Doom Engine in Inventors might have been too much, but this slight imbalance can be easily remedied by replacing Krosan Tusker and Llanowar Empath with Scattershot Archer and Thornweald Archer. Ezuri's Archers is really good. Lastly, Dwynden's Elite is a 4 of in Modern Elves.

I'll be grabbing this simply because I want Ezuri, Solemn Simulacrum, and Darksteel Plate anyway, so I'm actually saving money by buying this Duel Decks product... that being said Duel Decks have had zero appeal to me for actually playing with the decks. I'm just going to cannibalize as many of the pieces as I can into my EDH collection.

I have to say I think you're being unnecessarily critical of this product. It's $20 for about $20 worth of cards, in a preconstructed deck format that casual players will probably enjoy quite a bit. It's not intended to be ripped apart for value, it's just meant to be played against the other deck with a friend and used as a starting off point for deck building for less enfranchised players.
