As everyone is probably already aware, run-of-the-mill, flyover-country Americans don't think far into why they should hate Russia and Russians, if they are of that type (liberals). They think they know already--they think it is right to hate Russia because supposedly Russia victimizes and impoverishes its people. It's just jellied cold war propaganda. "Normal" Americans who hate Russia have not realized time has passed in Russia since 1950s. They actually think their hatred of Russia is a way of caring for Russians. (Of course it goes without saying that the object of their hatred is a fantasy.) Meanwhile, when I go out before dinner to pick up a bottle of vodka (Finnish because everything else has been banned at my liquor store even though the people who work there are Russian), I run into at least one person having a legitimate psychotic break in public, etc. Luckily, I will dodge being carjacked as well. In my experience, the only "racial hatred" of Russians, as Gonzalo described it, is from Americans who are Eastern Europeans like Victoria Nuland. Anglo Americans, Irish Americans (except Biden, who is not Irish, according to himself because he is not a drunk), Asian Americans, Latinos, and Black Americans do not racially hate Russians. Norwegian Americans also do not even hate Russians! (I live in Minnesota.)

Gonzalo isn't a positive element... Not bad, but doesn't add anything. I'd say pass. Did the hit have to do with his time in the Donbas Militia coupled with new found fame?

People aren't wrong about Gonzalo, but he wasn't so bad this time. I found the meat of the conversation really interesting, and that's the important thing. Also it's funny to audibly detect when Nikolai is getting excited to tease Lira with the discord questions 😆

I wish you guys were wrong about Americans and what they think and say, although I would qualify it by saying most of the animosity is directed towards Putler and not the Russian people. I get a lot of comments about how Putin was evil KGB and other Boomerish sentiments from the Cold War. All i can say is that American brains have been destroyed by media and political parties. But if talking heads and major networks started saying positive things about Russia and Russians, it would switch immediately (at least for normies). It's much more shallow than it appears, as are most sentiments in the US.

I doubt there is a deep, genetically inherited hatred of Russians like I hear described a lot recently. I have a strong suspicion that there is a direct link in this Russophobia and the mass media. It's just that until BBC started really beating that message out there, I never knew any Russophobia. Before that it was all virusaphobia, with impromtu George Floyd raceaphobic interval. Not that it's any kind of excuse for the awful behaviour but it definetaly provides context.
