ANIMATING TRANSITIONS

I've been diving into the world of animating transitions lately, and let me tell you, it's been quite the journey. At first, I couldn't wrap my head around where to even start. But I made a promise to myself for this project—I'd take the time to learn. It felt daunting initially, but I took a simple approach: lay down the key poses and see where it takes me. Once the key poses were placed everything else started to fall into place.

SHOOTING MY OWN REFERENCE

I had to get creative with references since figuring out the body movements was tricky. And being new to animation, every step took me longer than expected. Just getting the thrust motion right ate up a good chunk of my time, not to mention Zarya's receiving motion. I've already had to redo this transition three times!

KEEPING IT SIMPLE

Originally, I had this grand vision of Junker Queen grabbing Zarya's shoulders or hips, but practicality won over complexity. Keeping it simple with a stronger motion seemed like the smarter move. Any form of grabbing poses has to get thrown out the window because Junker Queen's arms are not that long, and it would just look super weird to try and get it to fit.

THE GOAL

This animation isn't just about the final product; it's about breaking my own barriers. I'm using it as a playground to try out new techniques and workflows, so that next time, animating won't feel as daunting. It's all about learning what works and what doesn't, and this project is my crash course in animation mastery.

NEGLECT

If it feels like I've vanished into thin air, rest assured, I'm still here. When I'm diving into new skills, it's like my brain's running at double capacity, leaving little room for anything else. So, if I've seemed a bit absent, it's just because I'm fully immersed in the learning process.
