Kris hunts for a villain. Is she the predator or the prey?

We're nearing 500 pages on Homecoming now! In this episode, Chris takes a back seat as Kris steps into the limelight. Think she'll be able to ensnare a target worthy of Bella's attention?

I had fun writing for Kris this time. We've only seen her in the mirror before and now she's out in the world. Or is it merely "Chris" with a different dialogue color, fooling himself? 🤔

I can't wait to read your thoughts!

Elrod, I'm sorry I accidentally deleted your comment! You'd written: FYI - I'm trying to not put any spoilers in here. One thing that bugs me is episodes ago in the mirror scene, Kris was telling Chris that "I'm a part of you, whether you admit it or not." (paraphrased). The 'internal dialog' in this chapter was a different tone - "I'm not real; you made me up ....." which seems too radically different of 'Kris' attitude previously. Which doesn't bode well for Chris/Kris integration of their two sides. Kayla's own internal duality and conflict is building - and she doesn't yet recognize it. She wanted to be intimate, but then couldn't deal with it. Then said she couldn't lose Chris again. I suspect that when she finds out that her 'betrayal' of what Chris told her put lives in jeopardy, her reaction is going to further add to her internal angst. I could see a nervous breakdown in her future. Would Ben then blame Chris? Would Ben then try to get her out of her angsty-mental state? And how is Chris going to react if/when he discovers that the sexy red outfit was a gift to Kayla from Ben? Another nail in the coffin of feeling betrayed by Kayla? (I suspect that if I turn on my Angst-o-meter, this story is eventually going to break it. FYI - the Angst-o-meter is an inside joke from the way I've treated my own characters in Whateley stories I've written!)

My reply: Thanks, Elrod! Hm, I don't think the dialogue is too different. In the mirror scene, Kris agrees she's a hallucination brought on by "trauma, sleep deprivation, and stress." When she says that doesn't mean she isn't real, she means the strength that he has inside of him. Kris is an avatar, of sorts. 😉 In this episode, she says Chris is experiencing a psychotic break... If that's the case, all bets may be off! Brilliant analysis on Kayla and what she's going through. And if only she knew what Chris was truly experiencing, as well...

The subtle softening of Kris's facial features between pages #9 and #10 that I perceived is not solely a product of my imagination, I hope. The gorgeous woman on page #19 is not the same one who first walked into the club...
