Lauren, Nick's ex-girlfriend, helps him find the perfect bra size. But will she discover his secret?

Another 17 pages in this episode of Half Sisters! I had a lot of fun with this one, even if poor Nick / Nikki didn't! I really like Lauren as a character, and I wonder what impact she'll have on Nikki's life in the future.

What do you think? 😀

The first half, with Lauren nattering away and Nikki answering with, basically grunts, is not only hilarious (and I feel both Nikki's embarrassment but also Lauren having to keep up the saleswoman patter with a customer who is practically nonverbal), but made me wonder if it's an ironic reflection of how Nicholas used to act with her. She seems pretty chatty; was Nicholas one of those guys who just goes "uh-huh" on autopilot when his girlfriend is talking? Her mum has already made the switch to Nikki. Yikes, kid. People are getting too used to you being a girl... REALLY love that Lauren's response to finding out is just to crease up. Not only is it funny — and kind of nice to see someone Nicholas was probably kind of a shit to get a little slice of revenge — but it's a great contrast with when Jill met her ex. (I had to edit this; I am terrible at remembering to hit shift-enter.)

Thank you, Aly! I love that Lauren is doing her best smiley, friendly saleswoman thing, thinking she’s helping a shy tomboy — but as soon as the truth comes out she’s cussing and laughing at poor Nick. Still, I think her true personality is somewhere in between. She IS head cheerleader, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility that she’s a “bitch,” but we know Nick was arrogant and disrespectful to most of his peers. And to his girlfriend? I bet you’re absolutely right that, for him, Lauren was good for either arm candy or for a postgame romp. In that case, Lauren’s response seems only fitting. 😂 As for Mom, we know Nicholas has some serious concerns about his mother that he will divulge to Sofia. Mom has said she’s committed to helping Nick adapt to the role of “daughter” to help with the ruse. Might she become too immersed in the deception? Seems easy enough when your son is beginning to look more and more like yourself when you were a beauty queen! Thank you for mentioning the art. 😁 I’m doing my best to make the characters and environments as real as possible…and also as hot as possible. ❤️

Only 5h and already >10 comments... damn... OMG... I didn't expect that... You see I am too soft... hahaha... obviously old Nicholas deserved of that's Lauren reaction but Nikki? Hmmm... Besides that it was very entertaining... and as you mentioned indirectly we can expect some revenge from Lauren side directed against what is hidden behind beautiful hormone imbalance hahahaha. IMHO it is a perfect balance after all for stubbornness of old Nicholas... I think Lauren is a perfect "cure" for that and she whether intentionally or not will help Nikki to embrace her full potential in far future :D

Alyson Greaves

It feels like, as head cheerleader, a level of bossiness is inevitable, possibly essential; but also, you have to work hard for the other cheerleaders, care about them, and so on. I'm starting to wonder if she might have similar ideas about 'tough love' to Nikki's mother... And, putting up with Nicholas for any amount of time — long enough to have good memories of kissing his moles! — she has to have been able to hold her own. Which I can absolutely see Nicholas reading as, 'She's a bitch, just screw her a few times and move on.' A lot of beauty queens end up raising beauty queens, and maybe Mum was a bit sad she didn't have the opportunity, but ultimately made her peace with that a long time ago. And then, fate granted her a (temporary??) daughter. Well, time to go all-out! God, I keep coming back to the mole thing. It feels like Lauren liked Nicholas much more than he liked her. Will that, ultimately, be a good thing for Nikki, or is Lauren bitter enough about it to make trouble?

emoryahlberg

Yep! I bet Mom actually enjoyed her Texan beauty queen experience…and may have had a notion that it would take her further in the world than it actually did. She certainly seems to have lost most of her glamour…or is it only hidden? Waiting for a chance to reawaken? Like, as you suggested, a new daughter with whom to share the specific peculiarities and pleasures of a certain kind of womanhood, although perhaps with a slightly more modern spin. Hmmm… 🤔 Interestingly, when Lauren mentions the moles, Nikki says she was “obsessed” with his body. Considering how proud Nicholas was of his pre-transition muscles etc., this seems like an odd complaint. Unless, of course, she was more tender and cuddly, and Nicholas was waaay more interested in simple (and quick) physical pleasures that left no room for pillow talk. Or maybe it’s something deeper?

Alyson Greaves

Her sensible, deal-with-the-problem-in-front-of-you mother reminding Nikki — and herself — that the cops option is still open, and then when it's rejected going back to treating Nikki like her naive new daughter with ONLY practical considerations in mind, and absolutely no hidden glee, none at all, nope. And her son? Who talked all the time about how hard he worked on himself but who may have been a bit dismissive of how hard SHE worked when she was his age? Is now a beautiful woman? Yeah, she's WAY too practical and sensible EVER to spy an opportunity there... And yeah, I remember Nikki talking about how proud she used to be of her body, how it was her art, her science project. Which is... a curiously distanced way to talk about yourself? Like, she also, I think, talked about how she was only an average student (I'd have to re-read to be sure). Maybe she kind of resented the idea that her only chance for a really good future was in constantly working hard on her body and on her football. Her dad 'proved himself' in the army and again in business, but it was her mum whose achievements came from her looks, from her body; did Nicholas want to be more like his dad, and worried he was actually more like his mum? For someone like Nicholas, I can see that being an itch he can't scratch. And then here's Lauren, 'obsessed' with his body in a sort of clean, uncomplicated way that he just can't relate to. It's not JUST a hot body; it's his ART, damnit! idk, fully thinking aloud. I have COMPLETELY given up on pronoun consistency.

Oh Emory, what have you done? This episode is by far your best work to date, bloody brilliant and the best captioned story i have seen in many years. The only criticism i have is that we have to wait until the end of the month for the next instalment !!!!!!

Sky

The jig is up nice twist exposing her him . Now what is next turn in story . Lauen excited sexually turned on with her and keep truth hidden . Mom might have to kill Lauren brutally fast shoot stab right away . Laughing picture is exact reaction from Lauren . Wow you have to wonder if real life meeting old flame they transgendered . What would be readers reaction ? Emory does a fine job making these trans M to F beautiful body faces . Art work is very hot fun to view Emory NICE JOB.

Bowie897

hmmm.... Lauren said that she used to be a TOMBOY and she knows "how hard it is being different". Perhaps that means she is attracted to girls as wells as boys. Nikki may be the best of both worlds for her!

emoryahlberg

Fantastic insights, Aly. ❤️ Especially about the detached way Nick looked at his body. Yes, it was his art, dammit! 😉 And now the canvas has been ruined. At least, that’s how he’s sees his situation in the moment. But perhaps Mom can help him se it isn’t “ruined,” just…dramatically changed. Not that she’d expected him to stay looking like a girl FOREVER, mind you. 😉 Oof, the pronouns for these characters are hard! I tend to switch between masculine and feminine depending on which “aspect” of their personality / situation in writing about — but it’s a bit arbitrary! Maybe I should use “they,” but that doesn’t feel quite right most of the time. 🤔

Alyson Greaves

Just occurred to me that Nikki, more than once, has thought about cheerleaders as being the ones who are there just for the pleasure of the football players, and has a few times thought of her as having been given the body of someone who occupies that role; she sees herself almost as having been reassigned from 'person' to 'object'. I do wonder if the combined force of her mother and her cheerleader ex-gf can convince her that cheerleaders can be people too... I freely admit that my choice of pronouns for these characters is entirely biased by my natural inclination to be all, 'it's fine, just be a girl, it rules' 😋

emoryahlberg

Oh, another fantastic point. Ooof, going from “person” to “sex object” has got to hit hard. Of course, that means Nicholas actually had that toxic mentality in the first place. Obviously, mom loves Nick very much, but one wonders what she really thought of the aggressive, judgmental, entitled young man he was becoming. After all, she has fond memories of him as a sweet kid when he was more sensitive and loving. Something must’ve changed along the way. That something might’ve just been “Texas” and growing up in an environment that pushes boys to be hyper-masculine, or maybe it was something more. Either way, I bet both Lauren and mom might think it’s good for Nick to get back in touch with his softer side for awhile.

Alyson Greaves

He seems like someone who was very much a product of his environment, to the detriment of his actual development as a person! Lucky he got a second chance, really... And I was flicking through Maid for Life with my wife and rediscovering how sexy and sweet all the stuff with Josh is. I am so mad invested in this story and these characters. God damn you do a good job.

emoryahlberg

Awww! ❤️ That makes me so seriously happy, Aly. Thank you! And don’t worry, I promise Josh isn’t gone for good!

I am kind of surprised that Nikki is still as tall as 6 foot two. she is clearly taller than Holly or Sophia, but not so much with Jill. when she first comes off the plane she is wearing 3 or 4 inch heels. but both of the older men are taller than her. She should be 6'6" in those shoes. when she hugs her dad, she barely reaches his chin. is he a 7 footer? I kind of assumed that Mason's super hormones would have involved some shrinkage.

It is interesting to note that Lauren and Nikki's mom liked each other. That may be what saves Nikki from lauren exposing her

Ella Cherry

Love it! My favorite chapter till now! And yes I will love to see Lauren around! Great job, Emory! ❤️

Artemesia

Very amusing chapter

emoryahlberg

Thank you very, very much, Arty! I tried to include some of the... AHEM... things you like.

emoryahlberg

Yes. A heartfelt plea from mom might very well save Nikki. Of course, I still think Lauren might have some provisos. 😉

emoryahlberg

Thank you so much, Ella! I do think Lauren will be a big part of Nikki's life going forward, at least for a while.

emoryahlberg

Lauren is exaggerating a bit. Nikki's official height is 6' tall. Her height in the plane scene was actually a mistake. I forgot to adjust her size in that one! I love your eye for details, though! 😀😀😀

emoryahlberg

Thank you very much, Maggie! I know, it's a little difficult to remember that Nicholas and Nikki are the same person sometimes. Just remember that inside Nikki is still that same arrogant, homophobic/transphobic star quarterback. He hasn't changed much yet! We will see if Lauren will help or hinder that change!

emoryahlberg

Could be, Bowie. But, if so, she'll need to help Nikki get her arrogance under control. But she seems tough enough to do just that, if she wants. 😀

emoryahlberg

Thank you, Sky! I don't think Mom will hurt Lauren -- but maybe they'll strike up a deal!

emoryahlberg

WOW, Michelle! That means a lot to me. Thank you!!! 💖 Trust me, I wish I could produce these faster for you all. Hehe.

stacy C

LoL I expected her saying.....'this is hot' or something at the end. Something tells me our Nikki is in for some more humiliation....bring it on hehe x

emoryahlberg

Yeeeah... Um, unfortunately I think Nikki and Jill are going to have VERY different ex-girlfriend experiences! LOL.

2023-01-17 05:42:10 That laughing image is one of the best works of art I have ever seen, & after reading Nikki's half of the story with annoyance & disgust because of the fact that they're a sexist & a homophobic privileged hetero white boy being forced to live as a girl, & not letting us forget how sexist & ANTI-LGBTQ+ they are. The karma is just, as Lauren said, hilarious. I laughed a great deal while reading it.

This is pretty much an exact fantasy I had when I was a high school athlete.
