THE FINAL ARC IS ABOUT TO BEGIN. THE WAR FOR PARADIS

You know the second part will come in 2022, right?

Sean Carroll

In the moment sashas death is very sad due to her friends reaction to it along with the sad music but yes I was always under the impression that she was an overrated character who was unfortunately the most expendable. I also didn’t fall for the whole potato comedic thing that seems to grab everybody’s attention. Don’t get me wrong I loved Sasha but yeah she wasn’t super important to the overall story

Sean Carroll

Trust me there is sooooo much more to eren you guys will eventually learn, be patient about it.

Paris Hardy

Clarification: Sasha still died at this point in Marley in the Manga. The thing you guys mentioned was Isayama’s original idea he was supposedly talked out of by his editor. He had planned for her to die in Connie’s village. But the editor convinced him keep her as an ongoing character up to this point in the original story. This is not an anime only change. You guys are 100% right on those that blindly follow & cause harm in the name of Eren & their “Empire”. I love how you guys hash out your discussions of the themes and plot points. The rest of the season is going to be ripe for discussions just like this one.

demitt

aight im about to type an essay i've been dreading watching the reaction to this episode... this one was hard to watch through :/ on a different note the storytelling with the parallels are my favorite part of this whole marley arc, since as an audience we're inclined to hate gabi even though you could argue that she had it harder than eren in a subjective point of view i'm also pissed that you guys called somebody was dying before the tone was even set, that's as expected from you guys at this point though lmfao

Polygon

There's actually been quite a bit of evidence foreshadowing Zeke's betrayal throughout S3 part 2. His betrayal/the fact that he's up to something separate from the Marleyan agenda is quite glaring and a lot of what he says/does is pretty sus. 1. At the Battle of Shiganshina he gets angry when the Scouts are charging him and thinks how tragic it is that they're repeating history. He then has to check himself and remind himself that he's not like his father Grisha, and that he has to try and enjoy things. 2. He tells Eren that he's going to come back and rescue him. This is the most glaring sign that Zeke isn't the character we thought he was. 3. In S4 E2, it's revealed that he's purposefully hidden the fact that he has royal blood from the Marleyan army/government. 4. In that same episode, he tips off the warriors that the Marleyan brass are listening in on their private meeting. Magath notices this and is concerned that Zeke made that remark. 5. In S4 E4, Eren is shown to have a baseball and a baseball glove. This is a clear indication that he's been in contact with Zeke, as Zeke is the only character in the show to have a connection to baseball. 6. In S4 E5 undercover Yelena sends him and only him away before leading Porco and Pieck to the pit trap. 7. Zeke is then absent for the entirety of Episode 6 and takes his sweet ass time getting to the battlefield even though he's the highly regarded War Chief. 8: In S4 E7 when Zeke calls out Levi, he tells him that "he's running out of time" before it cuts to Levi looking directly at a stopwatch, waiting for something. This is an obvious hint that the two are in cahoots. 9. Levi takes Zeke down with no resistance at all. This is more of a common sense thing as a viewer, but there's absolutely no way a character as major as Zeke was going to get killed like that. I'm sure there are many more, but this is all I've got off the top of my head.

Sean Carroll

The fact that someone was going to die was very obvious though if you pay attention. 1. The episode is called assassins bullet, very self explanatory. 2. Gabo has a gun and was chasing after the ship. 3. gabi saw Sasha kill a few marleyan guards, therefore she would want revenge. 4. Connie Sasha and jeans friendship moment was a major clue that things weren’t going to go as well as we would have hoped. You can’t be pissed that they figured it out earlier then the actual moment when so many clues have been dispersed throughout the last few episodes

bondbond53

Okay people need to stop overexplaining as is the case with the Ackermans. Stop spoiling things guys.

bondbond53

The 'meat' thing might seem a bit cheesy in the context with which I agree but is exactly this line that triggers Eren so I think it is justified. Eren laughs just as he did at first when Hannes was killed. It's his coping mechanism and at the end you see the dread wash on his face.

Regarding the "meat" line from Sasha. While I can see how it can be taken as funny I see it more as it showing that Sasha is still herself. Even if the show, the world, Eren etc. can feel as if they have changed so much since we last saw them Sasha still held on to that pure character. In this scene meat also represented so much more to her than just being for comedic effect (in my opinion). It symbolized the freedom of taking back the walls, it symbolized safety and home. Something which with Eren turning the world against Eldians is taken away.

Anonymous

Isayama-sensei kept Sasha alive because one of the editors cried when he planned to kill her off for the first time. No cap. Also, Sasha's death is the proof that everything is equivalent in war, revenge...etc. Death is not picky at all.

Anonymous

I really love your reactions, guys. And theories as well. You manage to reach certain things that have not even been animated yet. Amazing.

Azmaing1

Sasha's death was far more important to the story than I thought it would be after watching this episode first time

Kevko

The funny part is I don‘t think Sasha was actually trying to say ‘meat‘. It just sounds like it ( niku = meat ) but makes more sense in the next episodes

Kevin

The thing is the world was already against eldians erens attack didn't change anything once Willy declared war they were gonna attack no matter what eren did he just bought paridis more time .

Anonymous

Ackermans are a type of Eldian that cannot be manipulated by the Founding Titan powers or powers like Zeke’s scream that turn people into pure titans. That’s all I’ll say.

Anonymous

the trap floor was held up by the rope. So yelena can't put it back up cuz she cut the rope.

Anonymous

that's quite the random comment, but i love the voice acting when jean is pissed at yelena and yells her name.

Jag_227

Eren not finishing off Reiner gets more detail in the manga. Basically, they are out of time because the airship is making its one pass through the city to pick up those on the ground.

Anonymous

Zeke was never loyal to Marley. People just assume he was. Zeke's hated for Grisha is real but, he geniunely loves Eren and wants to save him and Eldia. He just doesn't care about who he has to kill to get it. He;s just like Kruger he's willing to do whatever it takes.

Jag_227

Sasha's death was tough for me because Gabi was very likable in the first episodes of this season. It's hard to see this normal girl kill someone we know as a result of her home being attacked, her closest friends being killed right in front of her, and years of brainwashing. You can see the fault in her actions but still sympathize with what led her to react that way. It's just a shitty situation.

Alejandro Gil

Let's be honest, Jean and the scouts were giant dumb asses this episode. I get that they didn't close the door because that dude was still outside but how do you not have someone monitoring him constantly while flying through enemy space?

Kevin

Honestly why was he even still outside while everyone already boarded?

Jay Craig

Always felt that Erwin's line to Pyxis in Season 3 Part 1 was a pretty good summation of a lot of the themes going on in the story, along the lines of - "Humans won't stop killing eachother until there's one or fewer left"

Anonymous

i don't understand the dislike of Sasha's character, her being an expendable character because she didn't contribute so far to the story, is exactly why she is a great character, because she doesn't care about the war, she is a goofy character who just thinks about her stomach, just like Hannes who wanted to be useless soldier, and why eren got emotional when he heard her last words, because she reminds him of simpler days

Stephen husuc

It's funny that two of you laughed when Sasha said meat but when eren laughed at the same thing you called him a psycho lol

Anonymous

not a manga reader so sasha's death shocked me, but i've learnt to just trust isayama and why he does certain things to the story. also i'm sick of seeing people shit on sasha even after her death, so here's my two cents. in my opinion, sasha brought BALANCE to the crew and to the show. i don't care if people don't find her amusing (bc humor is subjective), but she was mostly just positive vibes in the show and was a good contrast to more serious characters like eren and levi. she wasn't written to bring zeke's head to erwin, that was written for levi. her goal is to simply eat good food and live her best life. and what is so wrong about that? why must she have some super important purpose like the others? on another note, she's also a good hunter and sharp shooter. and idk why everyone sleeps on her hearing ability, because she has frickin good sense and can hear and grasp situations really well - like how miche was good with his nose. start of season 2; she heard the footsteps of the titans that beast titan was bringing before anyone knew what was going on. season 3 she heard gun shots when levi first encounters kenny; heard footsteps when they were hiding in the forest. comedic relief does not equate to being useless. it's needed, and when you kill a character off who served as comedic purposes, it sets the tone for the rest of the story. i personally liked the flashback that eren had a lot; it was when they were young and reckless and still learning about the world, the light was golden and they were in high spirits because sasha stole the meat. and now there will be no more moments like that - for eren at least. thank you for coming to my ted talk. rip sasha, thank you for being no one else but you.

Tope

I think it’s way too early for y’all to talk about there not being any real impact of Sasha’s death. Wait a couple episodes and then revisit that conversation.

Amazing ep

Sasha did not die earlier in the manga

Rashad T

Remember they couldn't miss their window to get on the airship. Hange stated there was no time to circle back. Anyone left behind was out of luck. A prolonged battle with Reiner would leave Eren and Mikasa stranded. Reiner's goal was to save Galliard. He wasn't the aggressor in the fight. Eren did shift 3 times.

Rashad T

Sasha's death was foreshadowed in the previous episodes when she snipped the Gate Guards in front of Gabi.

Sasory94

Hello, i'm late to the party and sorry if it has been said before. For me the "meat" line by Sasha has 2 meanings as the japanese word for meat is "niku". So it may also refers to Niccola as niku can be seen a nickname for him
