Stepping Stones To Flow // Asana Practice One ~10min (Patreon)
Content
HELLO PATRONS!!! I am so happy to be sitting here, writing to you and finalizing the first video of my new series. It has been an especially crazy start to the new month... let me tell you. Whatever could have gone wrong, did go wrong.
The mopping situation that interrupted my first video was just the tip of the iceberg, so to speak. To be honest, the move itself is the entire iceberg. We were supposed to be living here for 2 years... but no sooner had we arrived were we told that the house was selling. Now here we are 6 months later, moving Again. I'll spare you the details, because they just go on and on, and I'm Moving ON :)
I WILL tell you that practicing/filming this series right before the heavy lifting of moving, was pretty interesting. I was feeling so strong and agile, like a superhero human. I pretty much couldn't walk after moving boxes and furniture... but I will confidently say this practice will prep you for the dynamic actions needed in all life circumstances :)
Picking up boxes and throwing them into trailers, included!
So, yes... I did take advantage of the big empty SUNLIT room upstairs to film the entire 3-video series, and will be editing and sharing it throughout this month.
I almost forgot to mention, that I was totally ALMOST ready to upload my first video for you five days ago, but can you believe that I somehow managed to lose the entire library-of-content on my editing software?!?! Yea... that happened. All of my previous work is backed up, but the new content I had to REFILM hahaha.... so, I didn't take any chances with adding extra graphics once I got this ready for upload :) I did add some music post-upload (to the beginning timelapse, and ending) so the quality is kind of chopping since post-upload has its limitations.
Alright lets, get into this video!
I started with a timelapse to give you a glimpse of the complete Flow, and I ended with a behind-the-scenes style clip of my personal practice (playing around with low light on my camera). All in all, I'm very happy with how the final filming of this series has turned out. SIGH OF RELIEF!
Asana Practice One
I encourage you to explore organic movement into each asana. Like stepping from one stone to another, there is insight to finding the right path... and many variations are possible.
- Stepping Stone // Malasana:
In this video, I enter Malasana from a Child Pose transition to Cat.
First, Child allows me to rest my head and relax into my breath, feeling the gentle compression of Child Pose. Then, Cat allows me to strengthen my arms and chest while opening my hips.
- Stepping Stone // Low Crescent:
In this practice, I begin with my left foot forward.
First, I poise onto my hands and feet to lift my hips and pull back through my belly. Then, accessing momentum from the belly and hips, I step into Low Crescent. Taking time to secure my balance, I keep my back toes tucked to grip the foot and stabilize the hips. Finally, unhooking into a Cobra foot behind me, I can sink more deeply into Low Crescent with the option of lifting my chest and opening my arms into spinal extension (backbend).
- Stepping Stone // Warrior Two:
I continue from Low Crescent into Warrior.
First, keep my front foot in place and spin my Cobra foot 45degress behind me. Next, I rise up and align my hips by placing my front hand to the inside of my front knee, and place my back hand to the top of my pelvis (approx. navel height). Pressing my hips into the positioning set by my hands, I can then enter Warrior by first lowering into Lunge to access the Pada Power of Warrior Two feet.
In this practice, I switch directions by taking Wide Stance and turn to my right foot forward on Stepping Stone // Low Crescent.
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!
