Yeah, that was Baam at the end 👍 I can't wait for season 2, I hope they do it justice.

We'll see it next season, but season 1's ending kind of screwed up Bam's character. In the manwa, he didn't all of a sudden get some shonen protagonist burst of energy to keep going, but was lost in his own emotions and didn't want to continue. He was beyond angry and heartbroken and thus didn't want to climb anymore as he lost his reason to live. It was more interesting cos he was feeling these emotions for the first time and didn't know what to do about it. Season 1 of the manwa didn't end with a declaration to keep climbing, but a cliffhanger on whether he would keep climbing.

So it is a bit confusing when they talk about rankers and climbing to the top without giving spoilers. You are kind of left just making assumptions for a while but all the questions will be answered over time about it. I think it is meant to have fun with thinking about until then. I also hate so many always hate on Bam for being a "simp". I feel like they are just lacking the ability to understand the situation bam was placed in, and Bam views Rachel more like a mother/sister/important person rather than a love interest. Because she is the only person he knew up until the show started.

just for clarification both baam and rachel are irregulars, the anime skipped the explanation and did something weird, baam opened the door to the tower by himself making him an irregular, rachel accidently got in because of baam which means she is TECHNICALLY an irregular. however she is incredibly weak without potential for the most part. The act of opening the door to the tower gives you certain privileges and powers that later seasons will explain, baam has access to these powers, rachel however does not which makes her a non standard irregular.

Rachel the Gaslight Queen. I think it's safe to officially say, that Rachel is trash.

Can't wait to see what S2 holds in store for us. It's going to be wild.

this isn't fair god, i've been waiting 5 years for season 2 and react pack watches the anime for the first time and boom! season 2 premiere date confirmed -.-! wtf ... am rachel right now :3 putting aside my jealousy and black heart and without remorse I will give my comment on the chapter. if you hate rachel watching this chapter, it means that the author did his job well, since in a Q & A done many years ago he said that he would make rachel's character, a horrible despicable person and impossible to sympathize with her actions, but undeniably she would have a very important purpose in the story. this story is just the prologue, from now on it gets good.

A lot are very easily influenced by Rachel’s bad deeds and immediately hate her and make her a villain, which i dont blame them because that was the author’s purpose. HOWEVER the author also included hints of her other self. If you think she has no remorse well you didnt read into her properly. She kept hesitating to kill Bam. As time went on she slowly began “hating” Bam but deep inside she truly does still care for him. Rachel was born in a trashy world with nothing, Bam literally came out of the tower which is already a much better place (perspectively) than the place rachel has been her whole life. I see Rachel is a regular human being with no power, no money, basically has absolutely nothing trying to grasp at the tiniest of hopes to get something. She is a truly kind person but can become twisted when tempted by something she wishes for (Majority of us human beings are like that. I dont see it as them being evil, i just pity them because its desperation). She considered climbing the tower with Bam but she was unsure what would happen to either her OR Bam if she tried to do that. I can tell she seems to struggle with figuring out her feelings. She cares for Bam but also feels jealousy. She is confused and amidst the confusion + the fact that the director told her this is her final chance, she made this decision far too quickly without getting time to continue thinking (basically it was an extreme rushed decision). Back to the remorse thing. At the end you see her laugh right? Is everyone just going to ignore the fact she immediately stops laughing and puts her face in her hands? She is thinking back to what she has done. She just “killed” the only person who was ever kind to her and made her feel special. She is probably thinking that she is a piece of shit but has fortify herself and make herself think this is right because she wants to climb the tower. You forget mostly everyone in the tower is there to climb the tower for themselves, this was the first group that was working together because Bam was there. Bam wasn’t there, everyone would have been like Rachel. Rachel has difficulty with her feelings, all she has ever felt is sadness and depression. She doesnt know what happiness or joy is which is probably why she always made a “wtf?” Face whenever Bam said something kind to her. She is filled with a feeling she doesnt recognize and pushes it aside because it scares her. She jumps back to her comfort zone of not feeling anything. Desperation has changed her kind self to bring out all of her bad things she is willing to do to get what she wants and survive. I personally believe later in the story she will realize her mistake and that Bam making her feel like the most special person in the world is what she truly wanted and just never realized. Bam represents the higher up beings who have power and/or talent. Rachel is supposed to represent us trashy human beings willing to do whatever it takes to get what we want. (More specifically the weak minded people easily convinced they can get power if they just do something)

I feel bad for rachel 🥲 Author did an extremely too good of a job in bringing out her dark side that people focused on that only. The author himself has came out and said that he didnt exactly mean for her to look so evil that everyone thinks she is a villain. The author cares a lot about Rachel and he hopes to flesh out her character more as the story progresses. I think very few people felt the same as me when first watching this. I never saw Rachel as a villain or even bad. She just came from a shitty place where you have to fight and sacrifice things to make sure you live or get what you want. Her feelings of care toward Bam are mixed with her feelings of wanting to survive and obtain something. She had an internal emotional struggle this whole entire time, then was rushed into making a decision and people are like “SHE IS A BAD EVIL BITCH!!! KILL HER!!!” 😭😭
