My take on it is that Pitou's change /was/ abrupt, but with purpose. Seeing Meruem's reaction to Komugi potentially dying changed her. I don't think anyone (but maybe Pouff) saw the true impact Komugi has on the king, and that was her firsthand taste of it. Since Komugi is important to the king, he's important to her now too Great react! This was my fav episode in the series lol
