Natsu's breath comes out in short pained wheezes as I place my hand on his shoulder. "Are you alright?"

"I'm... fine." He eventually declares looking to his fist, clenching and unclenching it.

With a flash, a ball of fire appears around his hand. It's gigantic... the tip of it even licking upwards towards my ceiling.

"OI OI OI! Don't burn my shit! Gray!"

"Ice Make Coating!" Gray calls out, and suddenly my ceiling is coated in a thin sheen of frost.

"Oop-" Natsu mutters as he clenches his fist shut, snuffing out the fire.

"So. Firebreath. How do you feel?" Gray questions.

"Natsu..." Happy sniffles.

"Strong." Natsu whispers. "I feel... so much more powerful. I bet I could kick even Erza's butt as I am now!"

He hops up with a grin.

"Want a sandwich?" I question, gesturing to the plate of sandwiches I made

His stomach growls, seemingly on command. "HELL YEAH I DO!"

He grabs one and promptly inhales it in one bite. "You're not a bad guy, Merlin. Frankly, I thought you were a bit of a bastard with that healing thing you did for Erza, but this makes up for it!"

"Would you want to get on Erza's bad side by being all 'no. Fuck off' when she walks up to you all 'Come with me.' Not a 'will you come' just 'Follow.' Dead stop?"

He pales rapidly. "F-Fair point."

I turn my gaze to Gray. "So. Have you decided?"

"Fuck." He lowly curses. "I don't have much choice, do I? With it, this bastard's surpassed me so far. I've only got one choice if I want to keep up."

"Let me replace the sound dampening wards, then." I mutter as I quickly begin walking around the room.

~~Linebreak~~

"Ugh. Jeez did I scream this much?" Natsu huffs, picking at his ear with a finger.

"Yes."

"Hah. I can't even feel good about Gray's pain here. This sucks." Natsu sighs.

"It does." I agree with a slow nod. "But the effects are worth it, right?"

Natsu looks to his fist, his eyes narrowing slightly.

"Yes." He eventually decides. "This was worth it. I'm going to crush black steel the next time I see him! Show him what a REAL dragon slayer looks like."

"Hm..."

"Well, a bit later, I want to try something else."

"Huh?" Natsu blinks. "Try what?"

"I have a special power that allows me to force people to use spells... spells that they normally aren't ready for." I begin.

"Huh?" He repeats.

"Tell me, do you know how white fire is hotter than normal orange fire?"

"Uh, yeah?"

"Then why don't you try and shoot for white fire, hell, maybe even blue fire which is even hotter than that?"

"C-Can I?" The dragon slayer questions.

"I'm seeing a 'White Fire Mode' when I look at you. But when I made Levy do something she didn't know she could do, it apparently took a lot of magical power... it wasn't there before I unlocked your second origin I should note."

"But still. I can do it, right?"

"You can." I nod once. "I'm sure as shit not going to be making you use it here. But it is possible. We'll take a trip into the forest first-thing tomorrow. Maybe Gray will unlock something like 'Dry-Ice Make'."

"Dry Ice?"

"It's ice but a lot colder than normal ice." I blandly wave off.

We both look to Gray who continues writhing in pain.

~~Linebreak~~

"Alright." I stretch slightly. "Let's give this a try."

"Invoke!"

Fire explodes around the dragon slayer igniting the grass underfoot.

The orange inferno seems to condense, coming close to his body as he raises his hand.

The brightening fire abruptly rushes up his body, ruffling his jacket as it forms around his open hand.

A blinding bright white flame sits in his open palm, little embers and flashes of heat spewing from it like a sparkler.

"Sparkly!" Happy chirps. "it's pretty!"

'annnnd learn that.'

Fire Dragon Slayer Magic: White/Blue Flame Mode
Spell Level: 6
Casting Time: Full-Round Action
Range: Self
Target: Self
Duration: 1 Round/Level
Saving throw: None
Spell Resistance: None

By supercharging your magic you cause all Fire Dragon Slayer Magic spells to deal an additional 5d8+25 Fire Damage.

Overcharge: For each additional 2 MP you spend on this spell, you cause your spells to deal an additional 1d8+5. If you spend more than 18 Mp on this spell it becomes 'Blue Flame Mode' at which point the overall effect of this spell doubles.

Huh...

I can't use this until like eleventh level.

"This is..." Natsu whispers. "Really hot. Ow. It's actually burning me a little bit."

He snuffs out the fire, looking over himself.

He closes his eyes, fire surrounding him like it had moments before.

But it flickers out, frown appearing on his face.

"Thanks Merlin. At least I know how to get stronger."

"That spell I showed you is also how you get blue fire. It just takes a lot more magical power to do so."

I look to Gray who is stood nearby, arms crossed. "Now you. Hmmm..."

My eyes seem to bore into his very soul.

"This is fine."

His hands come together fist atop open palm. A magic sigil seems to form Ice creeps along the ground, rapidly.

The ice begins to grow upwards, starting at four points before they connect, creating a large cylinder-like body, a neck and a tail seem to grow off those points, horns curve back, a large maw of sharp teeth form, two large jagged wings appear on the creature's back.

The ice crunches and crackles, a chilled mist pouring off the ice in a manner that washes over the dirt and grass, quickly obscuring everything in a thick fog.

"Woooooah! It's cold!" The flying cat cries as he darts over to Natsu. "It's so cold I feel like my tail's going to fall off!"

Gray falls to a knee, breathing heavily as the large creature takes a sole thudding step forwards, then unleashes a massive wave of ice, trees are flash frozen instantly, ice clinging to them as they bend, looking as if they were frozen in time while being bent by the sheer force of a hurricane's blast.

I stare for a long moment. "Huh..."

I glance back to Gray whose hands look a little frostbitten, actually.

"Healing Ruby." I call out as I gesture to him.

A brilliant red light surrounds his hands as he shakily gets to his feet. Staring at the dragon with an unreadable expression.

Dynamic Dry Ice Make: Frost Dragon
Spell Level: 4
Casting Time: 1 Round (Appears during the next round)
Range: close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Effect: One Summoned Creature
Duration: 1 Round/Level
Saving throw: None
Spell Resistance: None

Through potent maker magic you have managed to conjure a powerful ally. This summoned creature functions as a basic White Dragon Hatchling with the 'Ice Beast' template with these notable exceptions:
Your Frost Dragon gains all the special qualities of an Ice Beast instead of choosing merely one. In addition, the Breath Weapon uses the White Dragon's own instead of the Ice Beast template's but not only that, as a result of the sheer cold, this damage is doubled.
The Cold Aura special trait has its overall range and effect doubled.
Your Frost Dragon deals an additional 3d6 cold damage with each successful melee attack (For a total of 4d6 with the Frigid Touch special quality)
Finally, the Frost Dragon is treated as being the center of an endless Fog Cloud which extends to the edge of its Cold Aura's Range, granting Concealment and Total Concealment respectively.

Note: Augment Summoning Gives this creation +2 Hitpoints per hitdie instead of increasing its nonexistent Constitution by 4.

Overcharge:
For each 2 MP you spend, you instead summon the next age category of dragon. Hatchling -> Wyrmling -> Young -> Juvenile -> Young Adult -> Mature Adult -> Ancient -> Wyrm

Oh?

Ohoho?

That's fucking awesome

"You good Gray?" Natsu questions.

"I... I've never been that good at Dynamic Maker magic." Gray huffs.

He gazes over the churning fog. The temperature has dropped considerably merely being close to this thing.

"Why's it all foggy?" He asks, looking to me.

"Because that's Dry Ice. Normal ice freezes at like forty degrees or so, but dry ice exists in the negatives so its drastically colder." I explain. "I probably picked something too big, but I saw 'Frost Dragon' and was curious, honestly."

"It has exhausted a lot of my energy." Gray admits as he falls into a seated position, gazing up at the beast as it crackles slightly, the ice squeaking and whining as the dragon takes a step forward... and crumbles into powder.

"Damn." Natsu whispers. "I hate to say it, but that was pretty cool, Gray."

"..."

He doesn't realize he just made a fucking- ugh.

Gray looks to his still glowing hands, the frostbitten parts rapidly healing up. "Dry Ice, huh?"

"You guys ready to go back to the guild hall?"

"Sure." Natsu nods. "Maybe Lucy's back... Oh yeah! I just remembered Before Levy left with Lucy she said that she wanted to talk with you about something."

"Huh." I mutter. "I wonder what."

"You've been helping her too, right? Maybe it's about her magic." Natsu shrugs.

"Maybe." I agree.

~~Linebreak~~

I gaze up at the guild hall as we walk up to it. "You know, I've got some repair magic, but nothing that works on that scale..."

"Laki'll have her work cut out for her." Natsu nods quietly.

I make my way down the stairs into the basement where a lot of the guild is residing. "So, Natsu. If you had to kill an absolutely massive mountain sized, six-winged dragon that could set you on fire just by looking at you... what would you do?"

"..."

"Huh?"

"Hypothetically." I cut in.

"Punch it... I guess? Why?"

"Damn. Already tried that." I sigh.

"..."

"What?"

"Don't worry about it." I shrug.

"Wait- Have you seen a dragon?! Maybe he knows where Igneel went!"

"Just the one who haunts my nightmares." I shrug.

"H-Huh?!"

"It's probably nothing." I wave off. "Just ignore it. Oh. There's Levy. Later Natsu, Gray."

I walk away, quickly approaching the blue haired word mage.

"Hey." I greet as I take a seat across from her.

"Oh! Merlin!" She beams.

"Natsu said that you wanted to see me?" I question.

"O-Oh... yeah." She bashfully looks away for a moment. "U-Uh... I'd like to Apologize."

"For what?" I blink.

"..."

"Lucy told me..."

"About what?" I blink again.

"About what Jet and Droy did..."

"So? It's no real big deal." I shrug idly.

"It IS a big deal!" The girl exclaims. "They tried to ruin your reputation! Get me- and likely a lot of the guild- to hate you!"

"Wait... what?"

"You... You didn't know?" The girl whispers.

"Know what?! What else did they do?!" I question, eyes widening.

"They... beat each other up and claimed you did it." She whispers.

"..." I stare at her with a dumbfounded expression

"While you were gone on that mission with Erza." She continues.

"Well, they timed that fucking poorly... maybe I should beat them a little bit." I scoff, crossing my arms.

"They... were chewed out by Master pretty hard... he didn't want a spat between guildmates to escalate... especially one over something so pointless." Levy mutters.

"I'm... sorry that all of this happened." I admit after a brief moment.

"No! You've done literally nothing worth apologizing for! I should be the one begging for forgiveness! I... I should have set them straight so long ago. I underestmated them, honestly."

"I... I was aware of their feeling for me. In fact, they have both asked me to date them... yet I refused all of their offers." She admits after a long moment. "I had hoped that they would respect my decision. But it appears that... they didn't... I was still their friend, we even formed a team. But now I see that... perhaps forming a team with them sent them mixed messages. But... I've corrected that mistake. Shadowgear is finished."

"Levy..." I whisper.

"No." She shakes her head. "It had to be done. I didn't realize it at the time but... my irritation with them just kept building up and eventually, I might have reached a breaking point. They didn't respect my decisions. So, now I'm probably going to do things on my own."

"..."

"I see..." I mutter.

A quiet sigh leaves my lips. "Well, I'm still irritated at them for making you go through all this. But I won't beat them up like a lot of the wizards here might. Want to go on a mission together? That'll bother them."

She blinks slowly. "Huh..."

A small smile appears on her lips. "Alright, but I want it to be a dangerous one. Jet and Droy always picked boring 'safe' jobs. Acting like it was their duty to protect me like I'm some defenseless wallflower."

"Sure." I shrug. "I saw a Wyvern job on the board."

"Wyvern? Are you sure we would be able to defeat one... they are quite powerful." The girl begins.

"I'm fairly confident in my skills... even if I can't you could probably create some sort of word to block the throat of it or something. Maybe we could lure it to a village. You get some 'solid script chains' and some 'solid script weights'?"

"And drown it? Hm. It could work. But they can fly and are quite stocky. How would we even move such a heavy weight in the first place?" She asks.

"Catapult? Maybe a carriage? Missile?" I suggest.

"I... I haven't really explored the combative half of my magic. I-I'm used to being a support..." Her reserved smile becomes a full-on grin. "Let's do it!"

~~Linebreak~~

"So... what happened here?" Levy questions the mayor of the small village we find ourselves in. The person who posted the request in the first place.

"Well... about two months ago, a pair of hunters from the hunter's guild passed through our town, trying to track down a beast they had been hunting, a Cyclops bird. They went off towards the north of the village, coming back later in the day in a hurry." The elderly man questions. "Ever since that day, a pair of Wyverns have been harassing our village. Burning our fields. Destroying houses. Nobody's died yet, but there have been numerous injuries because of them."

"How often do the Wyverns attack?" I question.

"About once every three or so days." The old man sighs.

"It's strange." Levy mutters. "Two wyverns should be able to easily destroy a town like this in just one attack... let alone dozens over the course of two months..."

"Well, they didn't really show up much at first. But it's grown increasingly frequent as of recently." The elder admits. "I don't know how our village has survived."

"Hm." I hum. "Sounds to be like they're looking for something... if it was for food, they'd be taking either people."

"But what could they- wait... a pair..." Levy mutters. "You don't think-"

"It is my belief that the hunters did something to anger the two wyverns while they were here... the first attack was shortly after they left." The old man admits.

"They likely stole an egg from a breeding pair." I sigh, running a hand along my face. "Did you happen to get a name of those two idiots? Messing with a wyvern's nest has got to be a crime of some sort... especially if there's a village nearby."

"I didn't, I'm afraid." The old man sighs. "The entire town scrounged up what they could in order to pay to get this mission onto the guild boards of Fairy Tail... we... we need help badly. I'm sorry that it's not as much as it probably should be to face two wyverns... but- but it's all we had."

"Don't worry!" Levy declares.

"It's more than enough." I nod along.

The mission reward is, as he said, quite low. But... it's not bad.

Wyvern Troubles: {Rank A}
I am the mayor of a small village just north of Clover Town. Recently two wyverns have begun making a mess of things and we desperately need help. We can't offer much, but this is all we have. Please help us!

Reward: 250,000 Jewel, assistance in dismantling the Wyverns to collect their most valuable bits.

The scales of a wyvern are quite durable and magic-resistant in nature. They go for quite a good price at a blacksmith or tailor.

The true reward for this is probably closer to half a million to a full million. The main issue just comes from transporting everything.

Luckily, I have a requip space which can hold just under a ton of weight. It should be good enough.

"Don't worry." Levy declares. "We'll take care of it."

A shaky sigh of relief leaves the man's lips. He seems to tear up a little bit. "Thank you... thank you so much. Y-you have no idea how relieving it is to hear that."

I share a glance with Levy as we both stand up.

We leave the building, gazing out into the peaceful village.

You can tell that there is some damage. Some buildings are blackened. Others are entirely burnt down.

I glance to my parter after a moment. "Do you want some armor?"

"Oh! Sure!"

I reach over and touch her shoulder, casting the spell.

I then do the same for myself.

"Alright..." I breathe as the immaterial and glowing armor fades from view. "How do we do this?"

"Hm." The girl beside me hums. "We could try and find the nest..."

"If the hunters stole eggs, it's likely the wyverns abandoned it." I point out.

"That's... true..." She relents... Then after a moment a small smile appears on her lips.

"What?" I ask.

"Oh... I'm just not used to having pushback on an idea.  it's refreshing! Jet and Droy would have just done whatever I said by now." She admits.

"That's sad." I point out.

"..."

"You're sad." I repeat, causing her to pout slightly

"Well, what's your idea, then?"

"Well, the Wyverns attack every couple of days growing more frequently, right? How long has it been since they attacked."

"About a day." The older man admits as he comes out of the building behind us.

"hm." I hum. "So if they're right about the pattern, they should attack sometime today or tomorrow."

"It'll be today." Levy slowly whipsers.

"Hm?" I glance to her as she shakily points upwards.

I follow her gesture, gazing off into the sky. "Oh..."

Two mighty beasts packed with tense muscle and dull scales flap through the air, their wingbeats heavy and slow, they glide on the winds carrying them over here.

"Welp. This is a 'Pallug missile.' Sort of situation." I admit as I crouch down, opening my bag.

I grab Cath by the horns and drop him on the ground, causing the little beast to let out a small annoyed growl.

I reach down and touch him. "Aera."

Two large bat-like wings sprout form his back and flap once.

Strange...

The last time I used this it was white feathered wings...

I shake my head.

"Empower." I intone, just a whisper as I reach down and tap the little cat.

A red magic circle appears around his paw.

"See those fuckers?" I point up into the sky.

"Mraow?"

"Hit the wing-joint of one of them. That'll cause it to crash outside the village and we'll only have to deal with one at a time."

The wings tense.

Then with a single flap he explodes upwards, doing a single loop before shooting off in the direction of the floating Wyverns like a bullet.

"Good eye, Levy." I compliment, eyes straying over to her. "So. How are you going to pierce their scales."

"I was planning on just hampering it until you manage to put it down."

"That's a little uncreative. How does your solid script work exactly?"

"The longer a word is, the more powerful it is. It also helps to have more unique letters. So... bomb might pack a bit of a punch, but explosive would be far more damaging- aaaah." She gasps

"You could try and blow it up from the inside with an explosive." I admit with a small shrug. "You'll probably want to lock it down, though."

"My main concern his how do I get the explosive up to it... and how do I get it down?"

"Uh... Cannon. Ballista. Bazooka." I list casually.

"Bazooka?"

"It's sort of like a hand-held cannon." I answer.

"How do you spell that?"

"B-a-z-o-o-k-a."

"Ah. I see."

BOOM

There's a massive explosion of fire in the distance as a speck slams into the wing of one of the wyverns.

Most of its body is ingulfed, then a moment later we can see the wyvern spiral wildy out of control, one of its wings bent backwards as it crashes somewhere in the forest.

The second wyvern lets out a roar of outrage.

"Let's get out of the village and draw it's attention." I call out as I rush forwards. "That way our fight'll cause less damage."

"Right!" She nods, quickly running after me.

I slide to a halt, gazing up towards the sky as Levy come to a halt beside me. "I'll draw its attention... after that, do you want to try this yourself?"

"T-Try it myself?!"

"Sure." I hum. "The best way for a wizard to grow is to be put in life threatening situations... Don't worry, if you actually look to be in danger, I'll step in. But I can heal most minor injuries. Fighting against a wyvern could be useful experience.

"Alright..." She nods. "That sounds good to me."

"I'll draw its attention, then." I begin as I raise a hand skywards.

A purplish magic circle appears as five little red orbs fill the sky, shooting towards the wyvern.

They pepper its scales but seem to just wash over its body without doing any real damage.

It lets out an outraged shriek as it swoops down, wings buffeting the dirt underfoot.

"Alright, Levy... All you." I call out.

"A-Alright." She whispers as I turn to look at her... now holding am massive tube on her shoulder formed out of the word 'Bazooka'

She aims through one of the O's that seems to have become an aiming sight of some sort, pointing it towards the wyvern.

A rocket spews from the tip of the barrel with a hellish shriek. It shoots forwards like one of those screaming fireworks towards the dragon as it bends backwards, letting out a ground-rattling roar.

I stand to the side as I hold out an arm to the side, Cath landing on the extended limb.

A fairly large explosion rips across the torso of the dragon. Scales are rent from its body as it staggers backwards, an angry yelp leaving its lips.

Levy, stands, tossing aside her weapon as it disappears into motes of light, rushing forwards on a mission as the cloud of smoke clouds the draconic creature's vision.

It flaps its wings to rid itself of the smoke, glaring down at Levy as her fingers swish through the air.

Its jaws snap downwards, but she narrowly dives to the side.

"GLUE!"

A large yellow glob of, well, glue appears right in the path of the jaws. Its maw snaps shut around the sticky substance, much to the creature's immediate dismay. It tries to let out a roar, but its mouth is gummed up, large strings of glue cling to its maw as it cracks its jaws open.

It stomps its feet in rage, swishing its wings.

But Levy had slipped under it. Shackling one of its legs to a large 'weight'.

She does the same to the other, large metal letters forming a metal manacle which is attached to a 'weight' that wouldn't look out of place in a cartoon. Large, metal. With '400 LBS' written on the side in white paint.

"Drill!" She casts another spell, sending a spiraling vortex of metal upwards. Right into the chest of the dragon.

Right where her first attack hit.

The reptile thrashes in pain, dragging its weighted feet as it whirls around.

Its tail, lashes out like a whip, Levy's eyes widening, but she quickly writes something.

"WALL!"

A large wall of earth and rock springs up. Rising from the ground below.

The tail crashes through the wall, slamming into the girl, but it noticeably slows down as it has to crash through the wall of mud and dirt.

She rolls briefly, letting out a small cough as the wind is knocked out of her lungs, pieces of her wall battering her body.

I point at her as if holding a pistol in my hand as blood drips down her forehead. "Healing Ruby."

I cock my thumb like a hammer, a beam shooting towards her and striking her in the back.

She is surrounded by a red aura as she quickly gets back to her feet avoiding the batting wings of the dragon-like creature.

It isn't looking so hot. The damage Levy delt is fairly surprising. I honestly didn't expect that sort of power from Solid Script of all things. It seems more like a support magic, but here she is. Fighting a wyvern blow for blow.

One of these things would probably take even Natsu a few punches to take out.

I wonder if dragon slayer magic is super effective on these guys?

Levy seems to have a flash of insight, her face lighting up as she gets an idea.

She begins quickly writing on the air as the dragon slowly thuds its way closer, weakened from its injury and slowed from its extra weight.

"GUILLOTINE!"

To posts appear on either side of the dragon's neck, seemingly made of the Ls in 'Guillotine'. A combined U and T slam down at high speeds biting into the neck of the dragon.

Crack

It doesn't go all the way through the neck... hell, not even half way.

But.

Juding by how the wyvern slumps forwards and stops moving... she might have just severed its spine with that.

She breathes heavily as she falls to her knees, looking over and giving me a thumbs up.

I offer her a small grin as I walk forwards. "Fuck yeah, Levy. You did pretty damn good."

"Thanks." She huffs, exhausted from the fight. "I... I did it! All by myself!"

"You did." I nod. "I did heal you in the middle there, but you could have probably taken it down without that."

"Mhm." She nods slowly. "Thanks... thanks for being here, Merlin."

"Ah." I wave off. "Don't mention it. Do you still feel hurt?"

She looks over herself as the ruby light fades.

"No... I think I'm good now!" She brings a hand to her head gazing at the red that stains it.

"Let me get that for you..." I begin. With a wave of my hand, she is surrounded in a wave of bubbles. The dirt on her knees, the briefest hints of blood that had begun to drip down her temple. It is all erased.

Noticeably her clothes are still a little dirty.

A limitation of the spell.

"There you are. All clean... sorry about the clothes though. It's weird but the spell doesn't work on them."

"Woah." The girl breaths, looking over herself.

It's as if she had just stepped out of the shower.

"I need to learn that spell!" She declares.

"It's definitely saved me time." I agree. "I honestly don't think I've used my shower once since I got my apartment. Magical cleaning is just so much faster and more convenient."

"I'm so jealous." The girl bemoans.

"Just wait till I figure out how to do laundry with it!"

"Uuuugh." She groans. "That'd save me so much time!"

"Oh. And speaking of clothes. Mending. Mending. Mending."

The noticeable slight tear at the edge of her skirt and the hole in one of her sleeves disappears. "You can fix clothes too?!"

"I can repair a lot of stuff." I admit with a sole nod. "Nothing that big, though. Maybe... a suit of armor at best?"

"Where'd you find these housework spells. Most of the girls in Fairy Hills would probably kill for those."

I simply shrug with a small grin. "Now. Let's go kill that second-"

CRASH

A large figure bursts from the tree line. It's slightly larger than the wyvern Levy killed.

Ah. It's the male.

One of its wings hang limply at its side, the joint well and truly fucked.

It lets out a furious bellow of rage.

"Pallug Missile" I intone as I grab Cath Pallug by the horn and give him a lazy toss forwards as I cast a spell.

He shoots off like a rocket, paw slamming into the large beast's forehead.

It is slammed into the ground, head slightly being buried.

"..."

"H-How did he do that?" The girl whispers.

"Hm? Oh. My familiar can deliver contact spells for me. Say for instance I have a spell that turns whatever I touch to stone... I can imbue him with the spell and he can deliver it for me."

"Then... that spell... you could have done that this entire time?"

"Mhm." I nod once as the small horned cat thing rushes over to me and growls up at me, causing me to reach down and pick him up like he's a little Simba.

Levy is silent for a moment, then smiles. "Well. That's pretty impressive. I've only seen that level of destruction in Natsu or Erza."

"Well, I recently made Natsu and Gray far stronger than normal, sooo you'll likely see it a lot more than normal." I shrug idly.

"Wait... What?"
