1) If Jurassic Park was a real place, would either of you visit? 2) If either of you had clones of yourselves, what would you want them to do? 3) Will you ever do a dollop on Chickie Donohue’s beer run? I feel like we could use a hero, and who better than the beer run guy? 🍻

Anne Momany

Gareth - On your album, you share the story you'd use on Jeopardy if you were a contestant. It involves peanut butter. Did any of that happen, and if so, what happened next? I'm still wondering about the guy with peanut butter on him.

Have you thought more about Dollop Junior which is family friendly? I would love to see Garrath read a Dollop to kids.

Do you guys feel that the evangelical Christian nationalism that is plaguing the world will cause our extinction sooner than later? Like in the next decade?

And as a follow up, is it bad that I feel so defeated by the constant stream of disgusting shit our politicians and religious institutions are putting the world through that I hope for a giant meteor to strike and wipe us all out?

It's been asked before but I couldn't find it--Do y'all have a P.O. Box?

I love your coverage of important issues of today by illustrating how its been in the past like climate change and racism. Are you planning on covering anti trans or LGBTQ issues from the past considering how dangerous it is for us to exist today based entirely on misinformation?

Hey! As a Latina I love yalls coverage on Hispanic topics! We are often overlooked and don't get to learn a lot about our history in the building of America. I'm requesting more latino centered episodes about subjects such as Cesar Chavez, the zoot suit riots, the San Antonio Independent School District v. Rodriguez court ruling, and so many more! Also I want to hear garreths cholo impression just one more time lol

If Gareth ever got married would Dave officiate?

Recently you guys mentioned that there were Amazon lists that people could purchase items for people in need. I've tried to find them but having trouble. Can y'all point me in the right direction? Side note: I'm listening to the west wing thing and I just came across the episode where Josh said his fantasy was Biden and Harris both dropped out of the election due to family issues lollll

Antipaganda

Hey Dave and Gareth! Love you both. 1. How many questions have you got left? Is it 69? I hope it's 69. 2. Dave, do you feel pressure from others not to advocate violence in defence of the people? Or is it the problem that violent revolution often makes things worse for the people in the short term? And of course it's just hard to risk your own life?

What the hell is the deal with Luke. For years we heard snippets of stories about "My buddy Luke" but now he is mentioned everywhere. He travels with you now, is he your butler or assistant or something, or is he just like Turtle from Entourage? Hell is Luke even a real person, or just Gareth's invisible friend that Dave begrudgingly tolerates. Luke are you real, please say something, it's ok if they are holding you against your will, we can free you. Also if you are indeed real and are consenting to be part of this traveling thrupple, will you please sign my car?

Hi Dave & Gareth, Long time listener from Athens, Greece. I come to you with a question I'd hoped someone else would ask, but they haven't. Do either of you remember when (or why?) shouting the date become a thing? I've listened to the earliest episodes over and over & I can't figure it out. P.S. Dave, you don't get enough credit for your animal sound effects. They're *chef's kiss*

How much do you have to edit out of a typical episode and why?

Lex

Hey crew, Lex from Melbourne here. In Australia we're pretty big on rhyming slang... "pie with dead horse" means "pie with sauce"; "hit the frog and toad" means "hit the road". I know it's big in the UK and I think more often coined as Cockney rhyming slang...? Gareth will surely know! Anyway, my mate Luke loves his rhyming slang and on a trip to the US a few years ago somehow decided that "Salt Lake City" was perfect rhyming slang for "tittie". So now every time that Gareth reads out your venues and tour dates and inevitably come to "Salt Lake City" I just think of titties. I know it's immature and demeaning, but I still chuckle and thank my friend Luke for his wisdom. Do you guys have any personal or local rhyming slang examples as clever and insightful as turning "Salt Lake City" and "Salt Lakes" into "titties"?

Adrianne Purtell

That’s a great question! And now I also want Luke to sign my car. Like, “I’m not Dave’s father.”

Will there be J-Town Shirts? I will gladly buy one. Side note: listened to the SF plague episode where u cited that poll from Washington state about 50% of nurses wanting to quit. I'm an ICU nurse in WA and that number rings true. And I'd say at least that same number if not more have some serious trauma from COVID as well, with many requiring serious counseling and medication. Our healthcare system is becoming unsustainable.

I recently listed to your 2014 episode on David Hahn, the guy who built the nuclear reactor in his backyard as a teen. When you recorded the episode he was still alive, but he has since passed away (in 2016 due to drug and alcohol related issues). Have you ever thought about doing follow-up episodes on some of your more modern subjects, maybe for Patreon content?

2023-06-27 07:31:28 Ever thought about doing an episode on famous racist ubercapitalist dickhole Julian S. Carr? A bunch of stuff in my home state (North Carolina) that was named after him was renamed a few years back, but his influence ran very deep throughout NC. To this day people do not realize just how deeply he managed to poison the state. I'm sure you have a huge backlog of episodes, but I was thinking that more people should know exactly who he was other that just the "Silent Sam" racist statue guy. This quote by Sam Shaefer (in response to the never ending whitewashing of Carr) sums up his legacy "Carr ... over the course of his life vigorously promoted and fought for some of the worst causes in human history – racial chattel slavery, racial segregation and white supremacy, and the restriction of political power to a small class of wealthy people. In our present, when we are faced with the enormity of the consequences of the ideology of racism, the monstrosity of unfettered capitalism, and active threats to the realistically very weak institutions of democracy that we hold on to, the idea of venerating Carr is the worst kind of apologia" Feels right up The Dollop's alley (not a euphemism for the b hole…or is it?) quote source: https://www.heraldsun.com/opinion/article183744386.html

Why are your thoughts on the Freedom from Religion Foundation?

Meaghan Walker

Any opinion on the boys on the tracks case from Arkansas? I know you usually don’t cover true crime but this one is WILD. It was initially determined to be an accidental death because the teenagers were allegedly too high on marijuana to get up from the train tracks as a train was approaching (🙄) but later they found one boy had been stabbed and the other had a crushed skull. One common theory is that they stumbled across a drug drop site. Other weird deaths surround the case, the prosecutor arrested for dealing, and the medical examiner was super shady. This was also when Clinton was the Arkansas governor so of course people theorize about the Clintons being involved in a coverup. I’m skeptical about that part but even aside from Clinton involvement it’s an interesting rabbit hole. Also just tragic, likely just two kids who saw something they shouldn’t have.

Dave, I know you've mentioned being a fan of Kucinich in '04, just as you've rightfully lambasted antivax RFK Jr 20 years later. Does Kucinich' endorsement and early support of Kennedy's candidacy rub you wrong way, or represent any broader issues within parts of modern US hard(er) and/or populist left, in your opinion, especially since Onset of COVID era?

I remember that on Unsolved Mysteries from 1988 (the same one where they talked about DB Cooper, hence why I watched it)! I remember having to videotape the father saying very sadly and seriously (which was sad to see) that he knows that his son would never have been on any "heavy stuff" like marijuana. I was just like D: oh no. But yeah, brutal and sad case that I wish had gotten some justice. I live near train tracks and have to have headphones in (and weed) to sleep, and that often isn't enough... I think that if a train were bearing down on me, I'd come to in a jiffy unless I were already dead ☹️

Gareth, when your mama is in town, what kind of stuff do you guys do together (aside from her making you watch CNN)? Dave, I remember some of the things you've said about your mom in your stand-up special — what kind of relationship do you have with her these days? (I think there was a Past Times episode where you guys were making fun of how redundant an article was that was naming types of birds instead of just generically saying "birds," and you were like, "Well, I know what it's like to have a mother who would say, 'What about sparrows? And robins? And bluebirds?'" 😂)

Ash-Lee

On the last mailbag (number 28) Gareth said at some shows in Adelaide you guys wondered what was happening. Can you both please explain what happened from the audience at these shows!

If you could fight any president in history in the prime of their life who would you choose and why?

For both Gareth and Dave: would you rather eat a cooked person or a live raccoon? Mind you, the person will be cooked regardless of your choice.

Ruairidh Lunny

Who would you have cast in the Piedras Negras Jailbreak movie? I’m picturing a late 80s Walter Hill movie with Jim Belushi as Don, Nick Nolte as Mike, Kevin Bacon as Billy and Donald and Keifer Sutherland as Stirling and Cooter for realistic father/ son chemistry. All played very straight and seriously for maximum cheese factor

The Einstein episodes sent me down a rabbit hole of quantum mechanics wiki pages and now I’m having an existential crisis. What do y’all’s think about quantum entanglement? Apparently now we can use it to send information over a distance? And also cause entanglement in living cells???? Opinions?
