Got myself blocked by Dave again for pointing out his condemnation of others would mean more of he could have suffered the terrible penalty of (checks notes) simply not watching the matches live when he has the rest of the year to watch futbol. He criticizes leftists for watching the NFL as if FIFA doesn't disdain him just as much. Hypocrites gonna hypocrite. 💯

Now that we've had soccer in one of the worst places on earth, it must surely be done and dusted for this whole organization. There's no way they could ever live this one down, and just have it again, in a new place, after this amount of absolutely scathing think-pieces. ..... hey guys, am I crazy or is this button not plugged into anything? It seems like it just kinda ends in a frayed wire.

The next world cup their doing is like a rotating tour of 10 cities and North America. Kansas City was one of the cities that won the bid. I live in KC, and am genuinely concerned what they’re gonna do. Genetrification has already been happening here for a few years, theyre talking about renovating Arrowhead (the stadium for our NFL team) which the taxpayers will probably get stuck with the bill. There is also talks of moving the Royals stadium (our MLB team) at the cost of 2 billion dollars or some outrageous amount of money; i could see them possibly building the new stadium and its “inaugral” use being for the World Cup games. Its gonna be a massive shitshow…

It doesn't mean anything because North Korea doesn't have the money FIFA would need to hold it. He's just saying every country is a possibility, which is bullshit.

What doesn't make sense is why did none of these countries pull out of the competition host their own competition in direct competition? Why do they let FIFA have this power. There shouldn't be anything stopping a bunch of countries to get together and hold their own. It's just not players. It's fans. Fans are all equally to blame. If they didn't watch there wouldn't be a competition either. So you can just call out the players with out calling out the countries who played and the people who watched. There is only prestige in playing if we give it that. Let's Make Playing anything fifa related as a stain. As something so bad no one would taint themselves to play for unless you are extreme dirtbag. Don't congratulate the players don't give them parades. Don't acknowledge it as an accomplishment.

100% - it’s players AND fans. I love the guys, but - at least in this particular episode - there was clearly some cognitive dissonance. How can you “get pulled into it” and not truly discuss/come to terms with your role but then not afford the players the same “get pulled into it” argument? It’s having your cake and eating it too. Bad form.
