I'm a high school librarian in Chicago, and Dave's closing words in support of teachers moved me. He mentioned many reasons why the disaster capitalists would want to bring down teacher unions, and all were true, but he missed the most obvious: a teacher is the first adult that a child encounters with whom they will create a strong bond that is not family. This person will care for them and serve them far beyond what a paycheck could guarantee, and that person is a member of a union. The first exposure the child has to a union is a teacher, and that makes it difficult to cast unions in a bad light.
