I like how this episode gave Ellie's moment of losing someone close to becoming the reason she wants to stay/help Joel and not lose another loved one. Similarly, how Joel losing his friend Bill inspired him to protect the ones that give their life meaning. I feel like this was the moment they became father and daughter.

Wonderful reaction and great discussion. I had an awful feeling we would see a continuation of Riley and Ellie’s story for the next episode but I like your idea of her just explaining the aftermath to Joel. Tell us rather than show us. The writers have been doing an incredible job adapting the video game. Easily one of the best shows I’ve seen.

Great reaction as usual! I was a little worried you might not like this episode too much, as most of the criticism I've seen of it, has come from non-players - but I was pleasantly surprised. I don't want to set you up for disappointment, but I have to say, next week's episode looks insane from the preview! I wouldn't recommend watching it, though "The show still has not given you any hints or clues as to how it'll end"... having played the game, I have to say, I got an evil smile on my face hearing that :D.

"Ah! They just snuck that in on us" moment in the reaction. Best resolution of suspense of ever watched in a "Zombie" movie. Never give in to despair!

Thought it was an amazing episode - spent the whole time holding my breath as we knew something terrible had happened there but didn't know what!

Radien was always my go to character in Mortal Kombat 😄. Seeing how Riley helped Ellie see that not giving up when things look grim is what helped push Ellie to look for a solution. Joel is still learning this after years of not opening himself up to anyone. That moment they both held hands 🫶.

I really can't stress enough how much I am loving Bella at this point. She was absolutely killing it with the amount of acting she was doing through just looks alone. The Papa Pedro is strong in this one.

They did this episode so well. I will say that it took me an episode or two to grow on Bella, but they are doing an amazing awesome job. Excellent acting and chemistry. And yeah, great way to write a prequel as well. Was not expecting them to put this here, but it is the perfect episode to put it here.

Throughout the mall scenes, Im like bracing for some shitstorm to go down.. to quote Agustin: “Guys, there cld be Zambies in there..”

I was completely anxious the entire time!! The whole episode was great. Ellie doesnt give up, now we know why.

I had Jury Duty today and I am still sad to see Horton Plaza closed and being converted to I think some sort of business park. It wasn't the closest mall to me, but it is the one I went to with friends and had a few dates at during high school and in my early 20's. Oh yeah, Time Crisis 1 and 2 were my go to games. The only games I could eventually play through to the end on one credit. My guess is Marlene stops by the mall the next day to send Riley off to Atlanta and she see's the outcome of the night before and instantly recognizes Ellie, who she put in the FEDRA orphanage to keep her safe (well at least that is what she said she did in episode 1). I am also okay if they don't revisit that further, we know what "happens" and don't need the further emotional damage.
