Not sure if you caught it, but he also speaks backwards in this iteration. When fighting Superman in the quarry, he says "Enola em evael" ("Leave me alone"). And in that final scene in the Fortress, he says "Emoh" ("Home").

The showrunners have said that Superman is the first superhero on this earth, so when it's asked if there's anyone else you can call and you name all these heroes, they don't exist here....yet. Basically, John Henry is the 2nd.
