she controls the darkforce dimension, the place nightcrawler teleports to and cloak (from cloak and dagger) and the shroud (along with many many darkness themed heroes/villains) get their powers from. my guess is they used purple instead of black to be more visually appealing.

yes, 90s shows hit differently. they treated us kids with respect and intelligence not like we are goo goo gaga babies with no capacity to comprehend compassion or injustice. this wasnt the only show like this. captain planet, saved by the bell, they all tackled issues of race, politics, colonization, discrimination, and acceptance. thats why i am so grateful for the time i grew up in. i was taught right from wrong and to have a world view before i was a teen. "20s are for learning who you are" not if you learned at 12. 20s are finding what to do with your purpose, hence my work in activism :) blame the xmen cause they gave me the hero complex lol

i kid you not, there is literally an episode of captain planet that deals with the israel/palestine situation. topical and relevant to today

I totally agree with you guys. I love how this series is designed to still be enjoyed 30 years later. Intentional or not, these episodes are still gripping, fun, and well written.

100% agree with Agustin!! The 90s totally had the best cartoons, hands down. And I’m so happy to have access to them now than I did before. I love all the the Marvel character Easter eggs that this series throws in. Was not expecting to see Captain America! But I literally have no memory of season 2 so far lol it’s been a treat watching along 😊

What's Dark Star's purple power? Telekinesis? Omega Red's character design was excellent - ripe for an 80s hair band.
