the other part I really like about them using Leia instead of Luke is because at right before a new hope Luke is getting ready to join the empire in hopes of becoming a pilot and that would never make sense in a world where he was captured and chased by them

As usual, your commentary is right on. The biggest and best surprise of this series is that it is filling in the backstory gap between Obi-Wan and Leia. This show is ROGUE ONE-ing the opening of A NEW HOPE but years -- not seconds -- before the beginning battle. Frankly, I'm a little disappointed in my own fandom by not seeing this Leia story before, because it's so logical. We got all hyped up seeing young Luke in the trailers -- but he can't really enter Kenobi's story at age 10. I knew Leia had a past with Obi-Wan to some extent, but I didn't guess it would be in her childhood. That's pretty damn genius. Also, the little actress playing Leia is rocking it. A fine achievement just to deliver such a good performance, but to add those Leia/Carrie touches at her age on top of that is fantastic. I like that we have to wait a week to see more, the build up of suspense will help the series gain intensity over such a short run. And it's already busting with tension two eps in.

This show continues to blow me away. I am so absolutely pleased with it. 10/10. Only complaints I have so far are 1.) this episode was only 35 minutes long and I wish it was longer 2.) I feel the disneyfied sections of the show when Lil’ Leia is just scampering around slowly running away from adults and no one can catch her, it’s a little campy and corny and doesn’t fit the tone of the rest of the show… however she’s absolutely fucking adorable and I’m still so okay with it. WE GOT TEM MORRISON AS AN OLD HOMELESS CLONE TROOPER STILL WEARING HIS CLONE ARMOR… THERES HOPE HE COULD PLAY REX IN AHSOKA SHOW

I am embarrassed to say I never though there could be a connexion between Leia naming her son Ben and Ben Kenobi so thank you Hector for pointing it out. I feel Obi-Wan has been so focused on Luke for the past 10 years that he almost forgot Leia and her lineage. Why is he so obsessed with him and not both of them? Does he feel like he will get a "do over" by training Luke? I would be very happy if Leia could display some predisposition to the force before she and Ben part way but he’s so adamant that Luke is their only hope in the original trilogy that it prob won’t be the case. PS: Did you upload a new version? I didn't think the hiccups were that bad, found it funny, it was a great reaction

Annakin was the BINGO for this episode and I didn't expect this soon. I have Qui-Gon Jinn for episode 3 not Darth Vader. But maybe we will get some bacta tank shots.
