It's been a while since I put up a build, so I thought I'd share one of the most powerful and flexible archer DPS (Damage Per Shot) builds in the game.

This one is not a cheap build to make, however one weapon is optional and the build can be constructed in segments. Probably the most problematic part of the build is getting the Phoenix parts, because the Whisker and Wishbone can prove elusive at times due to a low resource count. So you want to be sure that you're building something else from Phoenix gear at the same time in order to not have a lot of useless resources.

It's also massively Sunstalker intensive, you're talking at least 3 Sunstalker fights and more likely it's going to be 5+ fights to get all the parts unless you really slow down your game and concentrate on critical wounds for resources. The Sunstalker is not the most cooperative monster for this kind of play however.

So this one will take a while to assemble. You can cheat/save time by not building the Sunshark Bow and wearing Monster Grease instead of the Shadow Saliva Shawl, you will then be able to use Sunshark Arrows, but you will be in a lot of trouble if the monster catches this survivor alone.

The main power/utility of this build comes from the combination of range + movement reduction. Once you have hit the monster with the Hollowpoint arrow, your range of 10 means that there are precious few monsters that will ever be able to pull in close enough to you to be a threat - even the L3 Dung Beetle Knight will land a square short of reaching you with its trap (cancelling the L3 trap in this manner is huge).

So you will be threatened pretty much only by monsters with high movement (Sunstalker) and alternative moving techniques (The Hand). The huge range also means that you will rarely need to reposition yourself, so cumbersome is less of an issue.

The Sunshark Bow, while optional, is a great asset to this build because it gives you a second playstyle and options in the early game. Cycloid Scale Armor has a lot of defensive/rogue like abilities built into it and it works very well at short distances.  You can also reposition the bow by swapping it with the hood, which will give you a high speed option for your secondary bow.

In addition, if you have the Slenderman as one of your expansions, you can add the Gloom Coated Arrow in the third arrow slot; or the Dragon King gives access to the Dragonbite Bolt.  So there are options to expand on this one.  You can also easily slot in Spidicules Rings if you want.

The main shortcoming of this build is the lack of space for utility items, however, it is worth considering that -1 evasion to the monster and -1 movement are in themselves utility/support items and that you can also switch out the Sunshark Bow to provide a slot for holding a pickaxe when resource hunting. So there are options.

Flexible, powerful, and generally out of reach for most monsters in the game. This is a great build for someone who wants to just stand in one place and rain arrows.

If you swap the Sunshark Bow with the Hood, wouldn't it just loose the +4 strength but still be slow, because you would still have the Shawl active? In order to deactivate slow, you would have to swap Shawl and Hood, right? That would reduced your evasion bonus by 1, but against some monsters, higher speed might be useful, I guess.

I do like these small build guides btw. Thanks for posting them!
