Alright, so we're into the third part of these huge top X gear lists and this time it's onto the Defensive items.

So the rules for this list are as follows, the item has to be craftable or received in a controllable fashion and it cannot be campaign specific.

So because I have excluded some items with the above rules, I'm going to list them here as honorable mentions.

1. Steel Shield

The negative movement on this item is not a huge issue with either the right disorders/fighting arts or clever play.  This one is pretty much a pre-Dodge on tap.

2. Oxidised Beacon Shield & Oxidised Lantern Sword (People of the Lantern)

Deflect is really good.

3. Ring Whip (People of the Lantern)

As is Provoke.

4. Hazmat Shield (People of the Stars)

Block 2, great attacking stats and almost complete immunity to a nasty ability.

5. Dragon Vestments (People of the Stars)

+1 Armor to all locations and you gain a Dragon Trait fighting art instead of a random one. Superb defense and a central tool for gaining constellations.

6. Hidden Crimson Jewel (Dung Beetle Knight)

Reroll a D10 once each phase. Just amazing, you know how good Survival of the Fittest is.

7. Apostle Crown (People of the Sun)

Passive Hit Location manipulation if you have a +1 Strength Token. Amazing in Sun, can be gained in other campaigns by chance and it works well with Gorm Potions, Acanthus Doctors and Hands of Heat.

8. Prism Mace

Block 1 for free and removes a mood in play on a 10 strength club weapon. Just amazing and one of the main goals of the People of the Sun.

9. The Weaver (Spidcules)

A fantastic weapon in the early game with its ability to give protection when you wound.  Good in the late game on very strong, high speed survivors.

Since you featured two People of the Sun Items on the list, what is your opinion of house ruling some of these items into People of the Lantern? I only ask this because a lot of these items are made from core game resources, and are fairly difficult to make. Two of them have a high resource cost and the other two have a rare Strange Resource cost.

I don't like it. They are designed to work with the campaign mechanics and they should stay there.
