In Heart of Flames, a group of level-2 characters seeks a fabled dwarvish artifact known as the Heart of Flames. Legend has it that over a dozen heroic dwarves wielded this relic and performed deeds worthy of deities. The exact powers of this item are not well documented, only the tales of flaming hearts and great powers.

The characters arrive at a strange dwarvish crypt where the Heart of Flames is said to reside. The heart, anticipating a new era of adventures has grown impatient, causing earthquakes that worry the locals. The seismic activity has also caused some walls in the dungeon to collapse and create several streams of viscous lava. Will the heroes be strong and resilient enough to survive the crypt's challenges?

This low-level Shadowdark adventure has the heroes explore an abandoned dwarvish compound, confronts them with merciless undead guardians, and gives them access to one of the most powerful relics created by dwarvish culture.

This adventure has been designed for Shadowdark RPG through their 3rd party license. The system is meant to be accessible to OSR players and modern players alike. Adapting the material to 5e or other systems should not be difficult.
